I think because his best wins are better that Floyd's. He dominated the ATG's he faced more so than Mayweather did. But I think mainly, it's Whitaker's unorthodox style to begin with, then being a lefty, and being just as good a ring general at May. May won't be able to impose his game plan on Whitaker the way he has other fighters. Further, I think Whitaker is a more adaptable than May, he can fight more ways more effectively than May imo. Plus, I think the volume is all wrong for May. Whitaker wasn't some huge punch volume guy, but he did throw more than May, and in a fight between to sound foes with good defense... I'll usually always go with the volume guy.

Which points of the above to you disagree with Kev?

I don't disagree with many of these. The problem is that you (and others here) never seem to give a moments thought to the challenges and problems that Mayweather would likely pose for Whitaker. Would Whitaker really use more volume against a fast, sharp, precise counterpuncher like Mayweather? Mayweather at his best is more of a challenge for Whitaker than anyone Whitaker beat at 147 or below. Better defensively than any of Whitaker's opponents, as good of a ring general, and faster than any of them too. Also has a height and reach advantage in this one. Who knows how Whitaker would deal with someone with those attributes? I'd make him the favorite but people really exaggerate the difference in class and underestimate the stylistic problems Mayweather poses.

Yeah, I don't disagree with much of what you said. I don't think it would be an easy fight for Whitaker, and I think it would be very hard to judge to be honest. We're pretty much in agreement.

By 1946, Sugar Ray was the world welterweight champion. His reign included a 91 fight winning-streak. He held the title for five years, and then moved onto acquiring the world middleweight title, which he held five times between 1951-1960.

Prime Robinson bombs out Floyd, when Floyd actually stands and tries to fight SRR.

Here's the point. No doubt Floyds a great fighter. He's just not an all time great welterweight. Leonard, Hearns, no way. Montreal Duran, no way. I don't see him beating a prime Oscar or Tito.

Pernell Whitaker wasn`t a puncher but one thing he did very well was punch to the body. He was overlooked in this regard. With that said I think Mayweather/Whitaker a close tough fight to call but I would lean slightly towards Mayeather.

I disagree regarding Benitez and Pryor, I think Floyd beats Benitez but I can't see what would happen against Pryor except Mayweather getting outworked, actually if the Pryor from Arguello I shows up I can see Floyd getting stopped.
