He'd have had very good fights at 140, 147 would be a bad idea, I think.

i think he would have a chance in a tactical battle against Leonard i would favour leonard through... I like his chances against Duran.. But Hearns would just be all wrong for him..

He would get his ass handed to him by any of the top 147 pounders in that time. Leonard would outspeed him, Duran would out hustle him, and Hearns would line him up for a big right. Srry, but Mayweather would have sought out something else other than boxing for a profession if he were fighting in the 80's.

I don't think Floyd would do well with a good version of Duran, or Hearns or Leonard. I do think he's made to beat a Cuevas though.

he'd have lost to Duran at 140, and Pryor at 140. He'd have lost to SRL and Hearns at 147.

No disrespect to him, that was a tough era.

Indeed it was. That's why I don't see him beating anybody with his layed back style from that time.

    IT'S "HAVE" !!!! NOT "OF".

Sorry for caps, but i've seen this constantly in recent times.

"How would Floyd HAVE fared" "How Floyd would OF fared",makes NO sense.

Floyd, would be in great fights. Floyds defensive abilities jab and counter shots would be a great asset to him in these fights. All fights would be a toss up.

Duran didn't really campaign at 140, that I recall, he just went from lightweight champion to campaigning at welterweight, even though he took little fights in that weight range. Floyd in the second half of the eighties at least wouldn't have to worry about Pryor either.

With Hearns, Leonard, Duran, and Benitez, he'd have been a very solid contender, but not a champion. I'd expect him to stick around at 140 though and have more success there.

He would have done very well....Not because he'd have beat any legends, but because he'd avoid them all like the PLAGUE!
Dude retired the first time cuz he didn't want to fight Cotto, Clottey or Margarito at 147. Now he doesn't want to fight Pac (he's a so called midget in his eyes).
If he won't fight those 4 guys then I have suspicions that he wouldn't fight SRL, Hearns, Duran, & Pryor LOL.

Floyd loses to Pryor, Arguello, Duran, Hearns, and SRL... and probably beats the rest.
