You're taking the Duran from the second Leonard fight and making assertions based on that. And for the record, I have seen that fight... Benitez whipped him, yes. Benitez was also a hell of alot busier and threw more volume than Floyd would and has... Duran is precisely the kind of fighter that will give Floyd problems. He's a volume punching pressure fighter with great defense, a hard punch, and a great chin. He won't be deterred. He'll be coming every second. If he can take Leonard to the ropes and pound out a clear decision, you can bet that Floyd, who's already inclined to go to the ropes, would get the same treatment. The difference is that Leonard had the balls to mix it up and fight back... I can't be sure about Floyd. He's never proven that. He's never been put in a situation with a dangerous fighter like that... Because he's chosen not to fight those fighters...
Period. Floyd had heart in his earlier days to challenge the best but he's been pretty much a "could have been more". Beats Hatton who should've stayed at 140, Oscar win was solid though that was an older Oscar, Shane win was solid though that was an old Shane coming from a long layoff. He should've fought Shane a few months after he beat Margarito then a fight with Pacquiao in 2010 but we've been waiting for him to face Pacquiao for how long? Floyd is great but he hasn't put his money where his mouth is and fought Martinez, Williams, Cotto, and/or Pacquiao. Hell even beating Angulo would've been more of a challenge than a bloated JMM who belongs at LW. Floyd isn't daring himself to be great anymore and needs a few more big fights or to STFU and retire. I can't blame him for not facing a Leonard as there is one SRL and him and Floyd weren't ever fighting in the same time though I do blame him for shitting on the rest of his career and having "vacations" everytime there is a big threat.
And it should be mentioned that he didn't dominate an obviously gone DLH... Until he abandoned his jab in the 4th, he was winning handily. What astounds me is how many people swallow Floyds bull****. They regurgitate the same illogical nonsense that he does. Its really a testimony to the mindlessness and gullibility of fans these days. And by the way, I think he'd beat Pac more than likeley. I can just take a step back and be objective... That's an obviously precious virtue, it seems.
^^ This is exactly why Mayweather is considered great because his standards are higher then everyone else. Hatton should have stayed at 140 yet Mayweather was fighting at 147 when he should have been at 140 and at 140 when he should have been at 135, but doesn't get credit for that. Hatton should have stepped up when they were 140 pders rather then claiming he wasn't ready. And he doesn't get credit for beating Oscar at 154 because "Oscar was old". Mayweather being 2 weight classes higher then what a normal fighter would have been for his weight and size doesn't mean anything though. Forget any obstacles Mayweather went through because he is so talented that these obstacles that EVERY OTHER FIGHTER is allowed to use as excuses, Mayweather can't. Shane should have fought Mayweather in 99 when he was 135 champ and in 2006 when Mayweather challenged him both times. Cotto should have fought Mayweather after Gatti but didn't want it after he saw the hand speed. Hamed should have fought Mayweather at 130. Mayweather is also on record stating that he would fight Margo when he was looking for a 4 fight contract worth 50mil which Arum turned down. It is what it is. I just wanna know why is this stuff constantly ignored?
my friend...welcome to the Floyd Mayweather rules....your resident PBF haters will gladly fill you in on what is accepted when speakin about Floyd and what is not accepted.....be warned often times it makes no sense and is filled with double standards. Here are a few to get you started... 1. Floyd must not get full credit...under any circumstances 2. Floyd cost us the fight with Pac...even though Pac can magicly take a test in between rounds now but what 2 years ago he couldnt take it a month out...you know it weakens him. 3. Under no circumstances did he possibly win the Castillo 1 fight 4. He would have loss had ODLH just kept jabbing...Floyd did nothing to stop him from jabbing and the last to get you started... 5. YOU MUST MENTION NO URGE OR VACCATION....if you do not they go ape shyt! Now listen you can't win, dont even try, here is why....when you do make a fair acurate point....the next response is ***** dont know shyt about boxing......Floyd on vaccation.....Floyd no urge....fill the rest in however you want. Be safe on ESB there are a pack of rabbid Pac Fans running RAMPANT!
Leonard won the 2nd fight precisely because he didnt mix it up. Secondly Floyd has never proven he can mix it up? Please go watch some Floyd fights thank you.
as we still don't know much about floyd as he chooses to potshot his fights.. i'd say, if he folds to one strong great fighter, he folds to most, if not all. i still see him as too frail to take the punches of leonard, duran, hearns, pryor, etc.
this is not fight night for pete's sake. where hurt factors in, floyd folds. past prime shane, the version that could not get his power shots off already got floyd into trouble. what more if he gets tagged by the greats of other eras?
No man just somebody who follows the sport by: 1. Going to the gym to get actual boxing instruction. 2. Seeks out trainers to learn the sweet science ( it's a lot cheaper than drinking and partying). 3. Goes to just about any amateur bout I can find in the city. Hunts down as many great fighters as I can find to learn the sweet science. I'm not here to grace you keyboard bandits with a dam thing. I just thought on these sites they talked about boxing. But I never hear names like Chickie Ferrara or Archie Moore or Eddie Futch. And, there's never discussions about what they teach and where the fight game has gone in terms of styles and skilsets they brought about. I watch a guy like Kirkland and it makes me think that the fight game is dead amongst our Afro American Youth. And I know it's dead among alot of you, but not all of the people on this site(or maybe it was never alive). They don't talk about boxing they talk about Manny! Son, if I give my opinion it's usally from someone in the sport I admire. Like if I needed cancer treatment I probably wouldn't be real concerned about your opinion. So the same applies to boxing. If I'm going to continue to love and learn the sport, it obviously won't happen here.
If you think Floyd is competitive at 147 in a legitimately stacked era like the 80s-90s, 40's, or even in the 60's you are out of your mind
