How would Frank Bruno (at his peak) do against today's top heavyweight fighters such as AJ and Fury?

Joshua has a better defense than Frank did but Bruno had a better reach, which would have kept AJ off him for a few rounds, but AJ throws more combo`s, his feet are quicker. Povetkin would have done far better vs Bruno than he did vs AJ, The 40 year old Wlad that Fury beat would have destroyed Frank. The only fighter Frank would have stood a good chance of beating out of these four, is Whyte, but I feel his catch and counter style would also be to much for Frank, he would fare better against the rest of the division though, I feel. Would Frank really have a chance though vs the Top heavies today?

Same result, look good in spurts but huffing and puffing and struggling badly after that one big shot to the face

From what I've seen so far Bruno probably beats Joshua, but to be fair Joshua is still only 22 fights in his career.

Bruno had a better jab than anybody in the heavyweight division at the moment. His jab was even better than Wlad's. Joshua's lack of head movement and gas tank would be his undoing. Joshua has the better check hook, but eats way to many counter rights and Bruno was twice the puncher Povetkin was.

Fury with Peter I could see outpointing Bruno, but I could also see Fury picking himself off of the canvas. Bruno had a fast 1-2 and good counter right. However, Fury attacks well from angles and paces himself really well, which I can see him using to his advantage against Bruno.

Not too good. He'd have his hands full with the Whyte's and Chisora's. Haye/Price/Parker/Povetkin/etc could all be serious foes and he is simply not going through all of those kinds of guys.

I don't like Frank when he gets hit and his reactions when hurt are as bad as it gets. Offense is one thing but his defense is probably on par with a guy like Price. It's the top 10 competition thing---Bruno needs those bottom tier guys to get his wins.

Fury ,I see Frank struggling with. He'd get frustrated ,end up burning a ton of energy and be stopped around the 11 th.
AJ could play straight in to Bruno's hands, come out blasting and be caught by a Bruno block buster.
But if he survive s a scare or 3 he could emerge to have Frank in serious trouble ,stopping him about the tenth.
Haye could pull out a win but I also see Bruno hurting him and stopping him mid fight.
Povetkin also gives him plenty to deal with and if Frank underestimated him could find him self in a Witherspoon type loss .

Fury`s jab is longer than Bruno`s and he moves after he throws it, AJ`s jab is more powerful than Frank`s was, Bruno had a lack of head movement and a bad gas tank, Bruno was easier to counter than AJ and never threw the combo`s that Povetkin threw vs AJ, plus Povetkin has faster hands than Frank did, which fight did Bruno use the the counter 1-2 a lot in because he didn`t look like a good counter puncher from what I saw, I don`t think Bruno could have won a world title in this era, the Top three fighters now are far better than McCall was.

How you doing Fergy mate. I see too many angles for Bruno to land regularly, but the jab he has is a great weapon. That said, I see Haye scrambling him with a shot at some stage and we know Frank once hurt was done, and Haye is a good finisher
Again, movement from Pov imo would be Franks down fall, he'd catch a hook from out of nowhere but in both cases I highlighted if Bruno lands his big right straight after that heavy jab he's putting both down or on ***** street. If you jab with Bruno while hes fresh you stand a very good chance of losing rounds or getting ko'd no matter who you are. The more I think the more I feel they might look better against Bruno than the others you mention mate, down to styles. Just my opinion though

Very very debateable that mate. Infact I disagree lol...Brunos was a perfect jab, long heavy clumping power, like comeback Foremans imo

Well Bruno was ahead against Lennox Lewis and giving him all the trouble he could handle until caught with a huge left hook.
He is more than capable of beating and competing against the "luminaries" of today.
He was always in tip top shape, and for a big muscular fella his stamina was pretty good, he tended to get tagged later in fights and his problem was he didn't know how to go into survival mode.
Prime Wlad probably stops Bruno in the second half of the fight after surving anxious moments. Fury would probably spoil his way to a decision over Bruno, I see Joshua Bruno as being no more than a 50/50 could go either way.
I'd favour Bruno over all of the rest, Bruno is being underestimated here.

Have you seen most of Bruno's fights? Povetkin didn't exactly fight good opposition. Besides Wlad, Joshua, and Huck his competition was awful. Bruno would clean out Povetkin's entire resume except for maybe Wlad, but Bruno-Wlad would be a 50/50 fight while Povetkin struggled to be competitive.

Also, a longer jab doesn't mean better. Timing is what makes a great jab and Bruno had much better timing with his jab than either Fury or Joshua. Joshua is a great athlete, but his timing and his ability to put punches together have a long way to go. Joshua might one day develop into a better fighter than Bruno, but the day hasn't come yet.

Povetkin was in far better shape vs AJ than `Spoon was vs Frank and if AJ hit Bruno with the right that first hurt Povetkin early then Frank wouldn`t get a chance to land his block buster at all.

Did you see how Bruno was pawing with the jab vs Tyson in `89?
