The top 3 would out-jab him because of their reaches, heavyweights punch harderr than cruisers which is why we`ll have to see him take a heavyweight punch flush before we can judge him, Holy was overpowered by Bowe before he bulked up for their rematch, Moorer couldn`t take a heavyweight punch even though he came from a lower weight than Cruiser and Spinks couldn`t take Tyson`s power at all, bigger heavies like Mitch Green, Smith and Tucker took Tyson`s shots much better than Spinks dud, the light heavy Foster couldn`t take a heavyweight`s shot either but again he wa slimmer than Gas, Haye was knocked out by Bellew at heavy.
He can`t slip like Fury and doesn`t have his reach and there`s no way gas is coming back from the shot the decked Fury in that final round.
Usyk completely outboxed him though, if they had a rematch at heavy the result would be the same, if you atre moving up from cruiser you need to be able to avoid the bigger punche and Usyk has a better defense, that`s why the light heavy Spinks did so much better than Bob Foster did at heavy.
By top three I assume you're including Wilder in that category. Wilder couldn't outjab Gerald Washington and was getting befuddled by Artur Szpilka, so I don't hold out any hope of him being able to outjab Gassiev. Aside from the Stiverne fight, it's just not the way he's wired, or the way he tends to fight. He's also barely above CW himself (he officially weighed 212 in his last fight, about what Gassiev likely weighs on the night) so for whatever it's worth his "heavyweight" punches are actually more like cruiserweight punches. Might be a quibbling point considering Wilder's power is already proven at HW, but in terms of heavy handedness I doubt it's anything that will totally take Gassiev out of his element. Plus they've sparred, and from what I've heard, Gassiev while respectful of Wilder wasn't overawed by him. Haye's losses to Bellew aren't really relevant to the discussion as Haye was completely shot and ring-rusty by the time Bellew got to him.
This version of chisora yes The improving whyte I don't see it but I have been wrong many times before
He would lose against bigger chubbier heavyweights like Breazeale and Miller. He just wouldn't be able to trade with those huge behemoths. Too big too strong. Maybe if he was a mover. But he's not. And it's essential at heavyweight. Just waiting for that puny Usyk too be exposed at heavyweight, to make this point.
Plants his feet alot more than most movers. Very conventional guard, think his style isn't as suited against the more bigger obese heavyweights.
So first we overhype Usyk at HW and now Gassiev? Damn son. A lot of salty people need a hero a la Bonnie Tyler This content is protected Wake me up when they both move up and have their first scheduled HW fights. Then we can all wake up together.
