Personally i think he would beat the likes of gonzalez, ancajas, yafai, cuadras, rungvisai and is 50/50 against estrada or ioka due to stylistic matchups. I dont think any of them will have an easy time with penalosa.

    What are your thoughts?

he is favored against ancajas and cuadras due to his sturdy chin, he will eventually take over in those fights. he beats yafai easily. gonzalez , rungvisai, estrada and ioka would outbox and outwork him into wide decisions.

I love Penalosa, definitely in my top ten favourites ever, so I'm admittedly biased. Stylistically speaking, he'd likely lose to both Estrada, Cuadras, Chocolatito and Ioka but beat Rungvisai. In practice, he could beat or lose to any of them. I'd take him over Ioka, Cuadras, Rungvisai, lose to Chocolatito and 50/50 with Estrada.

The versions of Gonzalez/Estrada that fought the other night are beatable prospects for any all-timer at 115.

I dont think anyone beats him with wide scores unless they have a few pounds over him like Juanma and penalosa being 35+ yrs old. He only had problems with slicksters which none of ioka, estrada, rungvisai or gonzalez are and even then he was still competetive

I thought he won every fight of his I've seen before Juanma. I've heard an argument before that Gerry should've been undefeated outside of that fight. I love his performances vs Kawashima and Lee. And his fight vs Tomas Rojas.

Most of his losses were very close and some even controversial like the de leon fight. Only juanma beat him fair and square but gerry was 37 then and out of his natural weight class. He just doesnt have much luck when a fight is close and some could be said where he was robbed like the morel and de leon fights

Gerry also could've won those fights if he simply changed gears.
