If Golovkin had the hearns of the Hagler fight charging our at him from the opposite corner, what happens? Does it turn into a similar brawl as the Hagler ft,with both men throwing everything at a frenzied pace? Would hearns tactics be the key to defeating ggg or would they result in a Hagler type fight ko loss for the hit man. Perhaps for hearns to defeat him, a better way would be to play the long game with the jab, but in this fantasy fight hearns comes out on the attack 1985 style.
    Result??

Honestly, it would probably work out even worse for Hearns. I think Golovkin's chin may be close to Hagler's, I think his power may be better and that his footwork is better. Hearns brawling with Golovkin would not work out well for Tommy.

Hearns would be much better advised to mutate into his slickster persona, and use range and speed to box GGG from a distance. Hagler could fight GGG in a phone booth brawl - not Hearns, with his iffy chin.

GGG by brutal KO, ever see Hearns rumble with a natural middleweight for 10 rounds?

Barkley, and he was dominating fight one until......... Bang, man Iran really caught him.

Also a great fight when they rematched but Iran won again.

Id give Hearns a great chance to win if he fights smart and uses his jab, speed and right hand to keep GGG honest. I can see him having a Jacobs performance but he's better than Jacobs. He should Fight maybe like he did when upsetting Vergil Hill for the light HW title when Hill was still unbeaten and on quite an impressive run.

But the thread is if he attacked like vs Hagler

It's a dangerous fight as both guys have the power to turns anyone's lights out!

Could GGG take that final right hand that slept Duran?? I'm not sure anyone could!!

Hearns lost two fights in his life at 160. He gave Hagler all he could handle for a round and was beating Barkley like a drum before being caught. GGG at the very least would have some anxious moments.

I think Hearns hit way harder than Jacobs even at MW and we saw how Golovkin didn't like that being tagged by Daniel.

I wouldn't be surprised to see GGG knocked sparked out for the 10 count but the sensible money woukd have to go on Golovkin.

Hagler came running in and Hearns was forced to trade. Hearns would be
cautious like the Leonard rematch and wouldn't trade and be careless like in
Roldan and Barkley fights. If Jacobs could nearly outclass Golovkin then Hearns
like he surprised Virgil Hill with his skills does the same with Golovkin.

I believe so to. Yes Tommy could end up on his back with in seconds if he rushes Golovkin like he did Hagler but he could really hurt him as well. Tommy was on absolute fire back then and any one facing him as to either get on his bike or fire back. He rocked Hagler and that's no mean feat so he could hurt Golovkin as well. But Tommy could just as easily end up getting the fko with ggg cracking back. It could be a classic with these two.

I've always favoured Golovkin over Hearns based on GGG's footwork and pressure, his big punch and his great chin. I've felt that Hearns may have been a bit frail to go 12 with Golovkin.

But. But Hearns was a true master boxer, and with these types you just never know.

Aside : [ I didn't think Jacobs would go the distance with GGG (I predicted an early DJ KO 30% or a mid rounds GGG KO 70%) and I was wrong there. Then again, Jacobs seemed massive against Golovkin so there's another surprise.]

So yeah, Hearns could outbox Golovkin, that's not unreasonable to state.

I think GGG's own jab causes problems for Hearns and does damage. Then hes going to close the distance as he does, cutting off the ring and breaks Hearns down just a little longer than Hagler does. I cant see Hearns winning this fight any way you look at it. He doesn't see the 12th if they fought 10 out of 10 times !

Its a tough one for hearns whichever way you look at it. That chin has let him down on a few occasions and Golovkin is hardly a feather fist.

Agree with juppity that it was more Hagler racing out wanting to trade and Hearns pretty much accomodating so the premise of the thread is a little blurred. Hearns would 100% play the boxer/puncher.

Good points John. How do u feel Golovkin would rather play it against hearns.? Fly out all guns blazing and hope to catch Tommy early and hurt him, or play the long game, try to work his way in past Tommy s jab while mixing his own in and break hearns, hopefully to get him in the later rounds?
