Cotto was at the wrong weight to last 12 against Hatton, he gained more durability at 147 Cotto ! I have no doubt at 140 Hatton eventually climbs all over him before the final bell, Tsyzu Hatton against the best Cotto looked at 140 im talking !

Mosley jumped straight from 135 to 147, mainly IIRC to line up a superfight with De La Hoya. There wasn't the same buzz at 140 at the time. I think Mosley was a monster H2H at 135, but he didn't beat the best competition at that weight.

Good point about Hatton not being able to move up in weight. He was right for 140, and had a smallish frame and reach even in comparison to big lightweights. Some fighters can fill out across multiple weight divisions, but Hatton was largely ineffective at welterweight.

Hatton was a beast at 140lbs and gives these current guys a run for their money. He would need to stay well clear of 147lbs.

Cotto didn't seem keen from what I remember, he defo wasn't the same fighter at 147, 140 he was vulnerable as hell and Hatton was very strong for 140

Fair point. Cotto started to look drained at 140lbs, Hatton was at his strongest. I still think he had enough heart and skill to edge Hatton, however I can see why he didnt take the Hatton fight. Win or lose he would have been in some tussle.

and I think thats the rub with Cotto V Hatton at 140.

Cotto looked awful on the scales towards the end of 140 run and was badly buzzed more than once. He would have a skill advantage but I think strength, stamina, endurance all lie with Hatton and I think he could Cotto serious problems late in the fight. Hatton could punch..

147 was Cotto's best weight Hattons 140. Would have been a good fight.

I regret signing up already, it's painful reading, Victor ****ing Postol is too good for a prime Ricky Hatton, remember when people were saying Adrien Broner would have destroyed Hatton at light welterweight? Yeah..then Maidana mauled the **** out of him and everybody realised they were on crack, Regis Prograis is probably the most overrated fighter on the planet right now, give him a few more years. Young unproven fighters are the best at h2h matchups against past greats
