I'm not saying Tyson beats Ali by any means, but i would have been very curious to see how Ali dealt with Tysons Handspeed.

I mean, in his prime Ali always had a distinct speed advantage over his opponent, nobody really came close. Tyson however is nearly on par in terms of handspeed, and whats more, they were all powerful shots that he threw.

Anyone else believe that Tyson handspeed may have given Ali trouble in a head to head matchup?

Tyson would have more problems with Ali's speed as well as the pre-fight psych. job.

    this is a pandora's box....

100% both arguments know that tyson could end the fight in the blink of an eye or ali could shuffle the first three rounds and walk it. but boxing isn't that cut and dry that you can say what would happen.

    nobody knows.

ALI would cut Tyson to ribbons, Tyson would quit in about 9-10 rds.

Yeah, that's right. Tyson was weak minded and could be influenced by just about anything. Against Ali he would be lucky to get out of the first round.

Like someone else said, it is Ali's handspeed Tyson would have to worry about.

    Ali's reach/jab would have been a problem..if Buster's jab gave him fits.....

Young Tyson would have walked through Ali. Post prison Tyson would have been exhausted by Ali and beaten down to the canvas.

thats heresay. but the post prison tyson is most likely true because tyson is a poster child for the importance of the mental game in boxing.

no-one - and i mean no-one - can discount what tyson could have done to ANY FIGHTER before his meltdown though.

I don't care what anybody say, i'll put my moneys on a young prime Mike Tyson againts any heavyweight in the history of boxing. All I know is that Tyson against anybody is a 50/50 fight.

    i agree with you too.

some people will try to put somebody on a pedestal and say they were just too good, but the bottom line is that NOBODY wants to be in the ring with tyson in his prime in the first 3 rounds and anyone who says otherwise is lying.

this is why we love boxing.

Tysons speed was intense and compact! &use his speed once he got in reach with powerfull combos and sick uppercuts!!

Against a Prime Ali. This would all be neautralised! Tyson would not be able to make contact with the 67 version of Ali and ali would begin to dominate with his speed which is dancing around the ring ducking and pick pointing his punches !! His flleet foted accurateness around the ring would get Tyson angered as he would be throwing big combos into thin air!!

Muhammad Ali would start to enjoy himself as he starts the the 5th round ducking left hooks with spectacular movement and great ring craft which Ali had all!!

Two superior athletes, but one of them has a superior brain.

Lets suppose Cus D'Amato and Teddy Roosevelt was training him for this fight.

The psych job by Ali would most likely be neutralized by them, heck, they might have to break Atlas-Ali before it even gets to the fight.
