Not too long I was reading about Bob Fitzsimmons and his amazing feats as not only a great puncher, but great fighter. I also read he once stopped a 6'7 250lbs man in an exhibition match (one of seven victims on the same night). I'm not sugesting that because of this he could have stopped Wlad, I know the Klitschko's are elite giant heavyweights. But it makes me wonder, how would have the 5'11, lets say anywhere around 167-175 lbs heavyhanded ginger fared against today's Wladimir Klitschko?

And don't take my avatar as my pick :D

he'd do as well as the second best 170 pounder in history could possibly do against one of the best 250 pounders in history

Wlad would KO him with the first stiff jab to the chin.

You know Nat Fliesher RING rates Fitz #3 all-time Heavy (done in 59),I cause he could hit. Was he fast enuogh to get inside Wlad. I go in cycles modern vs. ol timers. One thing for sure this to end in ko,Just aQ. Wlad in 8feeling the canvas early.:happy

He would have made an awkward opponent for Wlad, but ultimately he would have sucumbed to the inevitable, if Wlad fought safety first.

As awkward as Fitz would be, Wlad would land something early, at least his jab. I don't think many 168lb men would stand up to that, not it's no slight on Fitz, a man I deeply admire and respect, that I don't pick him to stand up to that...yes, I'm predicting Jab KO1 Fitzsimmons.

If not, after a tentative look Wlad usually let's something go in the second. Either way, Wlad ends it whenever he wants.

This is why I prefer to judge a man on skill in the ring as opposed to mythical h2h prowess.

We can all see and read about the exploits of fitz and how he fared in his era, it is this he should be judged on (as well as resume and achievement). It shouldn't be held against him that is such a mismatch I actually laughed when I saw the thread.

Of course Wlad would crucify fitz in such a manner that if this fight ever got sanctioned, the promoter's would be charged with negligible homicide.

Fitz was great and is still remembered as a great today, but he gets dominated in this matchup.

(I actually do rank wlad way above fitz anyways, just wanted to say it's not because he might beat him in a fantasy fight)

I think that Fitzsimmons was too durable for Wlad to stop him with a jab.

I don't think he's ever been hit with a shot as hard as a WLadimir Klitschko jab.

Dion't get me wrong, it's not as fluid a jab as Holme's but it's definitely one of the best in HW history; right up there with Lewis's

I would bet the farm that he has.

Do you realy think that Wlads jab is harder than Jeffries right cross for example?

Fitz just needs one good shot and its all over.

Fitzs has a good shot at scoring the knockout imo.
