How would Henry Akinwande have fared against Marciano's opponents?

Well he beat Orlin Norris and there are some around here who seem to feel that Rocky and Orlin are one in the same... guess that answers the question....

Akinwande rules the 50's.

 

Like who? I would like to have words with them.

 

I think he would do pretty good.
While his balance technique and durability are shaky, he does have freakish height and knows how to stick that left out. He moves around the ring pretty well for a 6'9 fighter.

He had a good run in his time, and gave Lewis some issues. He's no pushover.
He definitely has the goods to make a successful run in the 50's.

He also has a lot of decisions and a draw with fighters around the 200 mark.

My guess is he picks up about 5-8 losses.
I highly doubt he has what it takes to go through old Louis, Charles twice, Walcott twice, and Moore unscathed. That's a difficult round robin full of A+ slicksters and boxers. He aint cut from the right cloth to be the king of that hill.

His performances and wins wouldn't be a great as Rockys.
And Rocky himself would KO him.

 

On a serious note he might get outboxed to a decision by guy's like Walcott and Charles. He had some decent skills and a lot of size. But he was relatively non aggressive, somewhat light hitting and slow.

 

Yeah, his speed wasn't that great (He was 6'9 after all)
But I am impressed in his ring movement given his size.

He didn't find himself in the ring with the lion Lennox for nothing.

 

I'm not even sure who his best wins were against. I've seen some vaguely recognizable names like Zolkin, Schultz and Jeremy Williams in there. But I can't call those guys the cream of the crop

 

Yeah definitely not cream of the crop.
I think the fact that he won a title from Zolkin, and had a good record up to that point made him a plausible contender for Lewis.

 

It's been a few years since I've glanced at his record and literally decades since I've seen him fight. He was kind of an obscurity as 90's heavyweights go. But yeah I think he did enough to earn a go at Lewis.

 

He did score a dramatic first round ko of Maurice Harris, he was also ahead on the scorecards against oliver McCall before getting stopped in the final round.

 

Walcott would beat him, it would be similar to Bryd v klitschko. He would torment the life out of Henry, catching him with counter punches and he would be the aggressive one in the fight. Walcott by unanimous Dec. Charles would probably beat him. Moore would ko him late

 

Like having a win over a 37 years old Tucker who was in the midst of losing 5 of his last ten fights.Yes I guess Marciano could emulate that.

He beats everyone up to Louis which would be problematical ,Walcott beats him by ko,Charles decisions him,Moore stops him late. Akinwande beats Cockell and Lastarza convincingly.
