He would have defeated them. Maybe convinced some people to rate him higher than they do.

For those that rate him in their top 3 or 4, I doubt it would do anything.

Snipes, a non-puncher nearly KO'd him. Sorry but that's not an iron chin.

Holmes had great durability and an excellent chin, but not 'iron'.

Very true, but I will venture to say that few all time great heavyweight champs had a chin that was better though. Most chins that were superior to Holmes belonged to fighters who weren't all time greats, McCall, Cobb, Mercer, Chuvalo, V. Klitschko, etc.

My sentiments exactly, although I'm not sure whether or not he would have beaten Thomas at the time the fight would have come off...

I guess a question I woud like to ask is how would Holmes have done against Bruno if he had beaten McCall in 1995?

You are right about politics, I don't think it's fighters that duck each other, it's the promoters. King had Holmes, Page was with Arum, and fight did not take place, although most fans wanted it. Page lost to some guys he was better than cause he got into an attitude of '**** it, I'm not training" He was coming in fatter and fatter, yet still holding own. If he had shot I belive he would have gotten into shape.

Page was never with Arum, he was with Butch Lewis, and when he left him, that when many problems started.

What men can do is usually a hell of a lot different from what they actually get done. The truth is they don't want it bad enough to do everything they need to do to win.

He beats Tate the most convincingly, beats Weaver, but Dokes, Page, and Coatzee would all of been close fights. Holmes would probably win them all but they would be close.

I think Witherspoon beat Holmes. Bad decision.

Still, if they fought 10 times, Holmes would take it, 7 or 8 times.

I have Holmes 5 or 6 in my alltime H -2-H list, and none of the guys mentioned make my top 10.

So I think he beats all of them.

Holmes would have some problems with Tate, but he would beat him on a 9-6 decision.Larry would have the fight of his life vs Pinklon, but he would probably edge him in a 6-5-4 deal.Dokes was faster, but his boxing skills weren't as strong as Larry, and he would lose a 9-6 decision.Depending on how Greg Page came into the fight, he either loses a close decision, or pulls out a close one.Coetzee would lose a 13th round Tko, give Larry a couple of anxious moments, but Larry's skills would kick in from the fifth round on.

I think he wins all, Page would be a tough fight though.

Perhaps you should mention which Holmes ? A 1979 version or a 1985 version ...

    A prime Holmes ..

Stops Tate in about eight ...
Stops Weaver earlier than he did in 79.
    Easily decision Thomas ... 11 - 4
    Easily decisions Dokes ... 10 - 5
    Cleanly decisions Page .. 10 - 5
Easily defeats Coetzee, possible stoppage ...

Then again, none of the men you mentioned were a LaStarza or a Cockell :yep

Holmes was going life and death with far far lesser fighters than Thomas around the time. No chance whatsoever of a 11-4 type decision. Ridiculous.
