If Hopkins would have moved to heavyweight in early 2000s, how do you think his heavyweight career would have worked out?

bernard hopkins was not a hw.. he could not fight at hw.. maybe he could do well like jones did ,picking a rival cautiously a guy that has stylistic disadvantage against him

He was going to fight for the WBC belt against Oleg Maskaev at one point. He could have gotten around him for 12 rounds to edge out a decision.

Hopkins would've gotten destroyed at HW.

He'd have been vastly outmuscled in the clinches, and he'd have no pop in his punches to earn any respect.

Let's be realistic for a moment. His style would not have translated well.

They weren't gonna fight at heavyweight though. I think a catchweight was being mentioned.

Was it at cruiserweight? Good call. I can't remember. I have The Ring magazine somewhere with them on the cover, I'll have to bust it out. Thanks brotha!

Bit like any of these 180 pound fighters, maybe an individual fight they could move up and succeed but you wouldn't expect them to forger a career at HW.

Prime Hopkins could have beaten a few of the title holders we've seen in the last decade though. Peter, Ruiz, Haye, Iggy, Briggs, Valuev.

Only one fighter that size has proven he can forge a career in a heavier division and that's Dempsey. I highly doubt he'd be that size today though.
