Pretty much how I see it...

If Itauma can fix the gas tank a bit, implement a pace he can keep up and still do enough to win the rounds, he could absolutely win on points.

But... There's some big ifs in there, and stamina isn't necessarily as easy to fix as we often think it should be (see Hrgovic, for example).

Equally, trying to train a boxer to fight against mother nature is not without consequences and not without resistance... Itauma's a natural fast paced KO artist - and there's plenty of fights that'd still be very effective.

Can he fight to a plan B? Big question.
Can he stick to a plan B that's not natural to him? Big question.
Can he learn to fight different ways and go through the gears when opportunities present? Big question.

You can look at other fighters who tried to change themselves too much and the effect... AJ is as good an example as any - he very much could fight to plan B (if anything better than plan A) but clearly didn't like doing so and didn't go through the gears seamlessly either.

There's a lot of big questions to be answered, still!

Another big question is how much longer Hrgovics chin can hold. They all crack eventually (see Joyce).

    Absolutely.

And, like Joyce, without an unbreakable chin Hrgovic would get much easier to beat - not that he's particularly scary a proposition now unless you're entirely reliant on trying to stop him.

Itauma was teeing off but couldn't move Hrgovic. Hrgovic wins stoppage even sooner.

If it happened next I’d favour Hrgovic.

Itauma still isn’t particularly experienced and will surely doubt his gas tank.

He needs to get rounds in against solid fighters at fridge world level. Gassiev would be a good fighter for him to get back in there against.

What's the point in Hrgovic taking a rematch he hasn't received an ounce of credit for beating him as a massive underdog in Moses' backyard with the deck stacked heavily against him from countless fans who gave him zero chance heading in who immediately switched to excuses overdrive as soon as he proved them all wrong.

Moses categorically doesn't deserve a rematch he lost fair and square on deck heavily stacked in his favour in his backyard after not even having done anything to deserve a world title shot in the first place

And champ Hrgovic categorially deserves to progress on with his career, star in his own movie, and carve out his own legacy with unification fights not play a bit part in The Moses Itauma story

Had Moses won Hrgovic doesn't get a rematch in a million years and Moses moves on with his career and onto unification match ups

If Hrgovic were to beat Moses again they'll just make excuses about him not being ready again or it being criminally negligent to throw him back in there with Hrgovic after the trauma of the first fight

I'm all for it. Similar result but we get to see Trans Warren afterwards.

Yeah Kabayel next. No reason for that fight not to happen. Pay Sanchez the step aside money and get it on ASAP.

    I felt Hrgovic won rounds 3, 5 & 6
I'm surprised more didn't see the 6th to Hrgovic as I felt It was quite clear
I noted on the rbr at the time that Itaumas hands were lowering

It was part of Hrgovic's contract with Queensberry that he fight Moses and that stipulation obviously wasn't to benefit him. Well he's done that now and he wants to move on to unification match ups.

Hrgovic's route should be unification fight or mandatory vs Sanchez then unification fight. He's already 34 with a lot of miles on his clock due to all the punishment he's taken throughout his career amateur, 30 WSB fights, and pro and it took him 9 years to get his first world title shot compared to 3.5 for Moses, and 5-6 for Dubois who has had 4 in his 9 year career.

Moses should be at the back of the queue for Hrgovic's plans

itauma should be kept away from hrgovic full stop..
hrgovic is mentally too strong for him

I rewatched it the other day and like you I though Hrgovic either won those rounds or won a couple and the other was very close. Moses was definitely ahead and looked great in the first 2 rounds and in some others but we've been lead to believe he dominated all the rounds prior to 9 and the only success Hrgovic was in that round. Moses had been blowing from early and once Hrgovic gained a foothold in the fight in round 3 it was a different fight and he was having good success of his own in many rounds and Moses was being gradually worn down

I don't want to see a rematch anytime soon. Moses doesn't deserve one and Hrgovic deserves to carve out his own legacy and to unify and try to become undisputed

Ironically most of the people giving Hrgovic no credit are the ones who wanted Itauma to lose. I think a lot of people are just incapable of acknowledging both fighters brought their best, and the better, more prepared opponent won.

I don't think an immediate rematch makes sense at all. Moses needs to work on his stamina and getting more experience in, and Hrgovic needs to take the opportunity to bag some big fights of his own while he's still in his prime (ideally a big scrap in Croatia!).
