How would Joe Frazier have fared against the other great champions?

    Here's what they say:

    v. John L. Sullivan: W-KO23
    v. Bob Fitzsimmons: L-KOby13
    v. Jim Jeffries: L-KOby19
    v. Jack Johnson: L-KOby10
    v. Jess Willard: W-Dec.15
    v. Jack Dempsey: L-KOby3
    v. Gene Tunney: L-Dec.10
    v. Max Baer: W-TKO6
    v. Joe Louis: L-KOby5
    v. Rocky Marciano: L-KOby8

I'm not going through that lot, but I think at his very, very best, a quality he exhibited for perhaps as few as two fights, I don't think he would ever be out-pointed. I think he would always win a decision, against anybody. Unless, he nearly got KO'd in the 13th or some **** and had to survive. I just think he had too much steam to lose 8 rounds to anyone.

But he could be stopped a lot of guys too.

That those dudes picked Fitz to stop Frazier in the 13th proves they were pissed up for that meeting. Fitz in two or Frazier in three or four, you can't be in the ring with Frazier and be 170lbs and live 13 rounds.

It's like they had a time portal to the Classic forum, and decided to pick the opposite of everybody's consensus.

Fitz knocks him out late? Johnson knocks him out? Tunney -- Gene Tunney, a mobile boxer-slickster like Ali and Ellis -- decisions him? A fight with Sullivan somehow goes 23 rounds? And yet Baer gets destroyed?

The only 2 fighters on that list I would feel comfortable picking over a prime Frazier are Louis and Dempsey....and I don't mean bet the house and kids comfortable....more like loser buys the beer comfortable. Prime Frazier was one of the most difficult fighters to go up against in the history of the HW division. Does anyone really envision Bob Fitzsimmons standing over an unconscious Frazier at any point in thier fight....Really?

Frazier KOs Willard. Probably not the way Dempsey did but inside 8 rounds. I think Marciano and Joe woud be a pickem type of deal.

Going against the grain I would pick Frazier over Joe Louis based on styles. Baer would get chopped down maybe after decking Frazier himself. Jack Johnson was so great I can`t really pick against him. I think he handles Joe.

The rest of the guys I can`t say.

    PS Gene Tunney gets brutalized.
