I think Joe would have a few tough battles but do not see anyone beating him from Frazier,Foreman, to Rudduck, shot Tyson and Evander and don't see any being able to beat Joseph Louis.

I know there will be some different opinions.....thoughts either way

Extremely well. There are problems for him there, obviously, but he was superb, so he would do very very well. He'd ****ing kill Ken Norton, who Ali struggled with I know that much.

Yes Norton would be a highlight KO for Joseph Louis

I'd favor Louis in prime form over all of them, including Holmes (who was at his own peak against Ali). However, in a career-sense, it's well possible that he picks up losses against some of them, i.e. Frazier would probably stop the old Louis like Marciano did, Holmes would outbox older Louis like Charles did, some of the massive hitters Lewis fought might score an upset KO. It can happen during a career with 20+ title defenses to your name.

I pretty much agree with what has been said previously.

He would typically do as well as those guys did or better.

The only place where I don’t see him doing as well, is late in Lewis’s title reign, where he might be a bit too old to get the same results.

Joe Louis was going to do well against 99% of the fighters i any era .. funny that Ali , Holmes and Lewis may be the three with the best shots of defeating Joe ...

    He might well.

I'd be less sure of him beating Liston or Foreman.

I think I would have Frazier down as a greater threat actualy.

    Just my take.

On another note, Lewis might have been the only champion in history who could have beaten Vitally Klitschko at the age of 37.

And also puts the Klitschko's in perspective .. neither brother beats the best of Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield or Bowe .. not to knock them .. Wlad 's defensive minded style and weak chin would fold and while Vitali would be more competitive, he does not beat any of those four in their prime ...

I would pick prime Vitali over three of them, and be a live underdog over the fourth.

It's a hard question to answer because we don't know what stylistic or other problems (if any) some of these opponents would have presented for Louis. It might not come across on film, but might present itself in 'real life.'

Of course a Frazier or a Liston or a Foreman would be formidable opponents to most, so I can only imagine that they would be no easy mark for Louis. Even leaving the obvious choices out, a Weaver, a Tua could be tough too. We don't really know.

some would be tough stylistic fights but I do not see anyone beating Louis prime to prime

It was a lucky win against Vitali. It was nothing to do with Lewis" talent.
    He was in big trouble.
The 42 years old Holmes could beat the prime unbeaten Mercer.
And the prim Lewis was big problem with Mercer.
The prime Lewis was just slightly better than the prime Mercer.
    - Lewis beat the old Holyfield. Big thing.
    Toney destroyed him.
    - Lewis beat a unfocused,slow post-prison Tyson.
Danny Williams and McBride did this also.
    - He beat vitali.
    Byrd beat an unbeaten Vitali.
    37 years old Lewis.Hmm..
The bum Rahman destroyed a younger Lewis.
Lewis never had enuogh punching power for a real classic power ko against
    vitali.
He had never enough skill for an impressive win against vitali.
(I think the fat 6'1"? Mercer could outjab the prime 6'5" Lewis.
(The prime Lewis skill wasn't impessive against Bruno.)
-Lewis had a weak chin.Rahman and Mccall two average puncher
destroyed him.Lewis was lucky because vitali is accumulation puncher
    and couldn't finish Lewis.
-Otherwise the vitali-lewis fight showed only one important thing:
How overrated are vitali and Lewis no knockdown,no power ko,
no broken bones,no good defense, two slow clumsy easy to hit guys and a lame cut ko by vitali's skin problem.
Lewis has 44fights/32 kos .It sounds well but vitali and Chanet kos
were cut kos,McCall was a mental problem,Mason ko was an injury.
I think Lewis classic ko ratio is maximum 28/44=63.63%
The HeavyweightBlog(wladimir klitschko fan blog) RULES:

    ko ratio 60-70% is:good puncher.
    70-80%: hard puncher
    50% and below:featherfist
Now Lewis' real power ko ratio is maximum 63.63.
And i think i was very kind because Bruno and Tyson were incredible
tired against Lewis. To me these were stamina kos.But ok i don't
    wanna be too subjective.

Funny, Janitor; I said the same to Cox's Corner about Louis-Frazier and he thought I was crazy! I just like Frazier's style against Louis. The Bomber had that Equalizer to fall back on, though!
