How would he have done against the heavy hitters of 70s HW boxing?

He still would have been champion at some point. He stops Frazier, he stops Norton, he stops Quarry, stops Lyle, stops Ellis and stops Foreman after some scary moments. He splits a trilogy with Muhammad Ali. Wins a boring decision against Young.

Top 3, Ali and Holmes are the only ones I’d favour against him.

Yup. None of those guys were anywhere near as good as the likes of Max Schmeling.

I can only surmise that he would do very well but won’t make any bold predictions about him dominating.

Kenny is a push. Larry, Joe, George, and Muhammad are favorites, depending on which 70s version he sees.

He would be in the mix with the greats but would not have 25 defenses.

Yup. I see him losing to Ali, and I'd narrowly favor Foreman. Not sure about Frazier but I like his chances against Holmes.

Probably very well, just due to his ability to adapt quickly to what anyone was doing.

I’m not surprised to see it but I think you would all be really shocked to see Louis against the 70’s Ali. Louis would really **** that Ali up.

Schmeling had a specific skill set and caught Louis at the right time.

Yup I'm absolutely positive nobody else in a much much stronger era would have a "specific skill set" nor catch Louis "at the right time."

Nobody dominated the 70's Ali lost to Frazier and took a frightful beating in Manilla ,Norton (twice really) and Spinks. Frazier to Ali twice and Foreman twice , Foreman dropped 2 to Ali and Young and of course there's Norton..Louis wouldn't dominate either , I give him a good chance against a fading Ali , Frazier would take Louis into hell and I'm torn on the outcome, can Louis hurt Joe enough to keep him off? I like Louis by KO over Kenny ,,Foreman? I can't see Joe standing in front of Foreman trading for very long, he has to drag George into deep water ,can he make it there? Of course there's a plethora of worthy opponents, Young, Bugner, Quarry, Lyle ,Shavers ,Bonavena and Chuvalo who if you're not on your game could upset you. Then towards the end of the decade ya got an up and coming Larry Holmes....
