How would Joe Louis have done in the 90's era?

Lets be honest here, would any of you guys put your own money on fightrrs from the past against the likes of lewis and co?? Do you really believe they could??

 

In most cases I wouldn't bet money on it no.. But I also wouldn't completely condemn their chances either. Though he had his limitations, Joe Louis was an exceptional fighter who has earned the right to given the benefit of the doubt against whomever he's matched against, even though there are fighters who I would pick to beat him.

 

True, the likes of louis,marciano deserve every praise in the world. But lets be realistic here, chances are they both get badly beaten early. A good big un will beat a good little un. I could only really see ali having a good chance against these super heavies.

 

If I were forced to place a bet at gun point, I would take Lewis and the Klits over the likes of Louis, Marciano, Dempsey, etc.. But it wouldn't be a comfortable wager.

 

In my mind, it would be a boxer that gets Louis, not a puncher. History generally repeats itself.

 

I would bet my **** and left testicle on Louis over Bowe.

 

Lets put it this way.

If Holyfield had been able to punch like Louis, he would have stopped Bowe in all three fights.

 

Joe Louis is the greatest heavyweight champion of them all..

Joe may lose a fight or two as the 90's had some real talent, I know I was there and never missed a Heavyweight fight.. But my guess is at the end he comes out as the best of the bunch..

Two come to mind as having the best shot at beating Joe in my eyes.

Tyson and Holyfield..

Tyson could possibly blitz Louis and never give him a chance, Tyson was of course the master of this.. My guess is even if this were to happen Louis finds his way back to Tyson and gets his revenge.. Assuming Mike isn't able to close the show on Joe in fight number one, Mike takes a thrashing as the others who sent Joe to the canvas early usually did..

Holyfield would have a shot if he fought the most disciplined fight of his career.. He'd have to resist the temptation of going to war with Joe, that is not an advisable career move, go to war with Joe equals you going to sleep.. What a fight this would be though!!

I am puzzled by how many on here have picked Lennox Lewis? No way does Lennox avoid being blasted out by Joe.. Lennox went to sleep after one Rahman right hand, and Mccall bounced him off the canvas (though the stoppage was bs) his legs were wobbled.. I also so Lewis hurt vs Briggs, Bruno and others NO WAY he survives Joe.. It ends in under 6 rounds..

Bowe could give him a longer fight as Bowe could take a beating, though thats all it would be Bowe taking a beating..

A guy like Tua WOULD pose some problems for Joe, Tua had an iron Jaw and legitimate KO power, and at his best great stamina.. I think Tua was easy to find though and like Tyson if Tua didn't get Joe out of there you may not recognize him by fights end.. My guess is Louis is still just to good for Tua..

I am a huge Joe Louis fan but I do not believe this sways my judgement.. I just believe hes the best EVER..

Louis vs. My top5 of the 90s:
Lewis - Lewis stops him in the late midrounds. Money on Lewis.
Holyfield - tough one, about 50/50. Holy at his best at least, every other version loses. No money on Louis.
Bowe - Louis beats him up and stops him. Bowe far too open, not durable enough and right in front of him. Money on Louis.
Moorer - Louis KO midrounds. Money on Louis.
Tyson - Tyson may put him down but that powerhappy, one shot a time, hands up version of Tyson won´t be able to stop Louis. Louis late stoppage. Money on Louis.

and soe other good ones:
Old Foreman - mercy stoppage by the ref. Money on Louis.
Tua - see Galento fight. Money on Louis.
Ibeabuchi - the Ibeabuchi who fought Tua will have a good shot but if I look how many punches Tua landed. And with Louis those would be combinations. I pick Louis but no money goes down.
Wlad - Early Wlad has a shot if he goes all out and trys to take Louis out but won´t happen. Louis will survive the onslought capitalise of his stamna and defence issues and stop Wlad. Money on Louis.
Vitali - Louis late stoppage, see Bowe. Money on Louis.

So out of 10 fights I´d put money on Louis 7 times. Once on his opponent and twice no money goes down. I think Louis would do well. If he fights them all after another he might well pick up another loss against one of them though. He´d do fine, either comes out 1 or 2 in that era I think.

 

Well, if you had put your $$$ on those 90's guys, they all sure found ways to dissappoint all by themselves. All of them had flat efforts and lost winnable fights.

 

The bigger fighters were nowhere near as good as Bowe. Bowe beats everyone 205 and under, does that mean he beats Louis?

If Louis is knocked down by the fighters he did, would he get up against the bigger hitting Bowe?

 

I know Tyson wouldnt let Louis get up at all

 

True, the 90s heavys, ALL of them, were very inconsistent.
