His own size and strength would advance accordingly. His power as it was would be enough to kayo most guys he hit. If Steve Cunningham can floor Fury heavily, Louis would floor him for keeps.

I think disciplined fighters like Povetkin, Ibragamov and prime Chagaev give him great fights, each with a chance to win.

Also a guy like Louis would raise the bar in a way Klitschko's are unable
He would get the non boxing fans interested in the sport..Klitschko's
have done nothing to elevate the sport to greater heights
The average person couldn't tell you when the last time a HW title bout took place
I bet most people don't know who the HW champ's are ..i bet if a question on Family Feud went "Name as many current HW champions and contenders go"
Mike Tyson? Muhammed Ali or is he retired? I know George Foreman
    i love his grill

He'd humble all the mammoths (close cousins to mastadons)...Louis would be revelation in any era.

    That's a wonderful Yank-myopic point of view.

    Thanks for sharing.

Up until his first comeback and the first Schmeling fight, Louis tore down anyone put in front of him. If it wasn't for his money problems, he would have stayed retired and he would be known as the greatest p4p of all time today.

So his poor foot speed and so-so defensive skills would be a non-factor against big, coordinated, athletic heavies who move? Oh.

You're just a Joe Louis hater, Joe was a true inspiration for the American people at that time during the war, and he's one of the greatest HW's of all time.

I don't "hate" any boxers-- I "hate" the fanboys who romanticize and overrate them. I respect Louis' longevity (even if many of his title defenses came against bums), but I can't cosign these attempts to build him into some invincible superstar who defies the laws of physics. I feel like some of you guys have been telling yourself that Louis was the perfect boxer so often and for so long that you start to believe it.

A lot of folks don't seem willing to acknowledge how much Ali revolutionized heavyweight boxing.

This thread has nothing to do with Ali, this is about Louis in today's heavyweight era.

This thread is about how a pre-Ali fighter would fare post-Ali. Ali ushered in a new mold of heavyweight fighters--big, coordinated and athletic fighters who know how to use their feet and can throw combinations with balance. Success against pee-Ali heavyweights says little about one's ability to deal with these types of athletes.
