He stood right in front of McCall on the first fight and exchanged. Boom. He got crushed.

He didn't even go after a defenseless McCall in the second fight. And he had Steward in his corner. The savy Steward knew not to risk a firefight. He knew Lewis's limitations. Why do think he had him be more safety conscious? He did the same with Wlad. He was a realist.

You're more confident than he was.

Excellent post!! Yeah, that was a strange prediction by Ecto Plasma. The guys that Lennox bombed out didn't have the best chins. However, Ruddock was solid and durable, Golota was always in panic mode and Grant was simply a never was. These guys all had power so I give Lennox his proper dues for those electrifying performances.

But just like you said, Steward was brought in to hide Lennox's flaws and keep them to a minimum.

To answer the original question, simply refer to the first fight between them.

Was McCall really as good at that kind of fight as Ray Mercer, for instance? I don't think so.

Idk how many people will agree with this. But I think McCall was the stronger man per punch.

    Why even ask the question?

It is like asking "How would Tommy Loughran do in a slug fest against Max Baer?"

The answer is, that he would not be stupid enough to do it!

You're right, it is an obvious question. However, Lewis was not smart enough to not get caught the first time.

Good point. Manny shored that up pretty fast. He had Lewis coming in notably heavier and professionalized his training camps. He improved his overall punch repertoire and usage as well.

Lewis had a good chin on the whole and things get overstated. McCall caught him with a peach of a shot while he was reaching (flawed - Manny improved his balance immensely) throwing his own. It was a perfect shot which Lewis didn't see and those are the worst. As it was he got to his feet and many times fighters in worse condition have been allowed to go on.

It's an interesting scenario. McCall just happened stop fighting the round after Lewis landed some immense right hands and hit him harder than he'd even been hit before. His chin was insane but i wonder if his will could be dimmed a touch if you put some crazy punishment on him in a short space of time.
