He would be just as good as he was during his time. Those old school guys never gave a ****, they fought for pride, not like half the guys now in days. He would just murder people for the joy and pride of the sport. I think he would do great in all the eras. :D

I'd pick him to knock out Wlad, Maskaev, Valuev, Chagaev, Povetkin, and Ibragimov. The fact that he was only 5'10" and 185 Lbs is irrelovant. He was just that good. Sure he was floored and struggled against a 37 year old Walcott and a 38 year old ex-lightheavy Moore, but why should that matter? Those guys played a better ball game than fighters of today. The quality was there if you get my drift. Don Cockell may not have looked like much, but the man was arguably better conditioned than Evander Holyfield could ever hope to be, and here's the real kicker, he didn't even use steroids. No jab in the world could keep Marciano from coming in, and no punch was solid or accurate enough to phase him. Wlad would just plain be **** out of luck.

Not as Good?? Sure he may not go unbeating in a few eras, but I think he nab the title in MOST eras. He be great no matter what era he fought in.

Haha, sorry, I'm just trying to get into Boxing (i'm pretty young compared to other guys on the board)

But seriously, factors didn't matter to the older fighters they just fought until they litteraly couldn't fight anymore. And I'm sure you know that, and everone else here....

Lets say Marciano is fighting for his first title tonight @ the age of 28. He'd have been born in 1979, not the 1920's. So Marciano would probably be 6'2" and weigh about 220 lbs, and he would probably combine old and new training methods kind of like Pavlik. He would rip everyones ass, Wlad included.

Hey, at least you're honest. :good

And saying factors don't matter to "older fighters" is false, because you're characterizing them all as the same, which is not true. They fought a lot more, no doubts about it, but not all were the same as a Burley or Greb, some cherry-picked and avoided fighters just like some of today's guys.

You also can't characterize everyone fighting today or in modern times the way you do, because there are many who disprove that stereotype. What you are spouting are boxing stereotypes, not neccessarily truths, although they can be.

In Ali's era I think he'd be a title contender, but who does he beat out of Ali, Frazier, Foreman, or prior to that Liston?

Liston was slowing down, and past his prime against Ali. I give Rocky Marciano a GREAT chance in beating that Liston.

Foreman is a style thing of couse, and I give him 50 50 vs Fraizer and Ali.

I think Rocky would be champ in Dempsey's era...Marciano and Dempsey would be a war...In Joe Louis' era, I can't see Rocky getting past a prime Louis...Rocky is a solid contender.
In Ali's time, Rocky is also a contender...alot of difficult stylistic match -ups for the Rock...
Today Rocky would be cruiser champ...All in all, Rocky has a very successful career in any era...One of the greats.
