In those days the rules were slightly different and certainly a different level of enforcement. Marciano was a man of his times, as the Klitschkos are men of their times. To fast-forward Marcino to the 21st century puts him at a slight disadvantage. He trained for 15 rounds and needed those extra rounds to beat his more difficult opponents. I don't see Marciano having a chance against Lennox Lewis in a 12 round fight, but 15 rounds gives him the opportunity to windmill an additional 200 or 300 knockout punches. Lewis has a history of running out of gas the last couple of rounds in a 12 round event but manages to struggle through. Struggling an extra 3 rounds might not be so easy against Marciano.

Depends what era in the 90's not as good but in the 00, 10, 20's as probably even better.

Marciano would have riped the guts out of any era.

The only thing that could stop him from steamrolling a given era would be the presence of another all time great who already held the title.

The contenders of any era would be toasted. You can take that to the bank.

Common opponents (Walcott, Beshore, Simmons [a sparring partner], etc.) regularly testified that Marciano hit harder than Joe Louis. Keene Simmons, who fought many sizable heavyweight contenders, including one Cleveland Williams, unhesitatingly affirms that Marciano hit harder. Top five opponents Layne, Matthews and Walcott (twice) were all taken out suddenly with one or two punches; that totals to four one-to-two-punch knockouts in 10 fights against top five opposition!

I challenge you to find any heavyweight champion with more or a higher percentage of one-to-two-punch knockouts over top 5 opponents than Marciano had.[/FONT]
