Just watched Marquez vs. Mayweather again. Watching that fight, its hard to imagine Manny being a threat to Floyd. However styles make fights, and Manny has done incredibly well at Welter weight and has grown into the weight class it seems, even though hes a small welter. How much of it is due to styles or size? The only way to compare objectively I feel is to imagine Marquez against Manny welterweight competition. I feel that Marquez would not have much success again, De La Hoya, Mosley, Cotto, Margarito or Hatton. His counter punching style and lack of power and predictability would seem to make me think all of those fighters would beat him. Its amazing how much trouble he gave Pac. I have no ****ing clue how Pac vs Mayweather would go to be honest haha.. its a very difficult fight to analyze.

they were equals at a lower weight class and then Pac moves up, absolutely demolishes the best in the division in a higher tougher weightclass then claims to be afraid of needles when asked to take a test (despite being covered in tattoos).

but this isn't viewed as strange and people who outline it are labled as haters and a bunch of other stuff...

I think he'd lose to all of them, some by KO some by UD.

they were equals head to head but they were never equals, Pac was always ranked higher. Ali and Norton were also equals head to head, that doesn't make them equals.

Pacquiao destroyed Barrera, knocked out Morales twice (after losing once), and was a wrecking ball going from 122 to 126 to 130. Marquez lost a controversial fight to Chris John and looked bad against a past prime Barrera.

Beats all of them easily, including Mosley who's tailor made for a fighter like Marquez

they were all beating each other... morales beat him as well and jmm arguably beat him a couple times... the point is they were all fighting at a similar level and now years down the line Pacs on a different planet to all of them... blasting away bigger stronger guys like Margerito and Cotto... taking Cottos hardest punches against the ropes laughing then going to perform at a concert the same night...

yet all this is fine and normal because he's a nice guy and anyone who questions the strangeness of this is a hater!!

Barrera never beat Pac. Pac won the trilogy against Morales and he also won the rematch officially against JMM and never lost.

So they were not equals, Pac has always been above the pack. His record is 5-1-1 against the three Mexican greats. Cotto in a p4p sense ain't **** compared to Barrera, Morales, and Marquez. I predicted that Pac would whoop him.

and yes, Pac is just that good that he can whoop Cotto and perform at a concert the same night. He always been great and he's been gradually getting better and better as he racks up more and more experience (although I think he peaked in 09).

You think PEDs raised his ability to take a punch? I'm no doctor but I don't think that they work like that.

Pac has the speed and athleticism and power to neutralize bigger slower guys Marquez doesn't. Marquez though has the footwork, timing and countering ability to cause problems for Pac's speed, athleticism and power. Even though Marquez probably can't beat Manny's WW comp he may also end up doing better vs Manny then most of those guys.

Mosley was the best WW when Manny fought Cotto, Mayweather was the best WW when Manny fought Clottey, Mayweather was the best WW and Paul Williams/Sergio Martinez were the best WW & JMW when Pac fought Margarito. Andre Berto was the best(after Pac of course) WW when Pac fought Mosley. Ortiz was the best WW(after Pac) now that Pac is fighting Marquez.

This is the standards that people use against Mayweather anyway.

I wouldn't favor Marquez to beat Cotto, but the styles mesh well and Marquez would do well countering in the pocket.

Mosley was so shot I would give Marquez a chance, despite the disparity in physical ability at welterweight. Same possibly with De La Hoya.

Margarito would likely squash him, but his defense is good enough to look good boxing until he got overwhelmed.

In any case, Marquez would never perform as well or better than Manny has at welterweight, and that's simply because Manny has grown into the division, while Marquez tops out two weight classes below.

anyone who comes at Pac will get his ass kicked period. It's always been like that. The only fight where that didn't hold true was the Morales fight which was Pac's first fight at 130 and he was cut by a headbutt right above the eye.

If Marquez was given time to grow into a welterweight, he'd beat the same guys Pacquiao beat. Someone said Norton and Ali were equals. That is that lack of boxing knowledge that I ****en hate!
