How well could he have done as a smw/lhw today?
He's around Ward's size, but obviously less boxing skills with more power and loves slugging it out. A fast version of Carl Froch?? I don't know.

For those that is familiar with MSM, what do you think.

    He's bigger than Ward.

    He probably beats them all.

    He unquestionably out-entertains them all.

I'd rather watch MSM lose than Ward or Hopkins or Dawson win....

How can you compare Mathew to Carl Froch ? He whips Froch to a frazzle...

The number of classics that he's been in has probably given some a rather inaccurate perception of Saad.More of a case of a guy that got caught up in slugfests than someone who actively sought them out.

He did seek them out, didn't want to be on wrong end of decisions after Gregory. Not like he reverted to boxing when he was caught.

He'd jab Wards head off, spark Bute and beat Froch up down the stretch.

Hence the getting "caught up in slugfests" part of my sentence.

Which makes it seem like he didn't want to. Part of his plan most of the time IMO.

The original post was really to stress his abilities as a boxer more than anything else.I've seen numerous fights of his where he's quite content to box behind his jab and actually pick his shots rather than just outright imposing himself on opponents and consistently inviting exchanges.

He's one of those fighters who's style tends to get misconstrued as an out-and-out puncher/brawler-type.

That's fair and I'd tend to agree. Lopez I was an underrated jabbing masterclass IMO.

He would flatten Pascal,Froch,Bute without much bother, Ward would be trickier but i dont think Ward could deal with Saad's strenght and more importantly his jab, hes probably the only one who would last the distance but wouldnt come close to winning.

Matt had very underrated boxing skills. Case in point, the 1st Conteh fight is indicative of that. He was also a highly successful champion in one of the deepest eras in the history of the division. Ward would present problems early because he's tricky, but he's been stunned by far worse fighters, with less power than Matt.I believe Saad takes him out.In my opinion, in this era of 168 and 175 pounders, MSM dominates.

I thought Conteh was bossing the boxing exchanges myself.
