I do,too. Conteh was a great boxer. But that is a fight which still demonstrated that Matt had some very underrated boxing skills. To this day, people remember his shootouts without giving him credit for his other attributes. Just human nature, I suppose.

Saad would have done well in any era. He'd always have burned out fast though.

Saad might make Hopkins head to canvas numerous times claiming "fouls" and some-such.

Yaqui Lopez could probably whip most of the Lightheavies around today also,

I don't think he would. He was matched ridiculously tough early in his career and fought all of the best.

Nowadays he'd be undefeated, but a lesser fighter as well.

Ritchie Kates Vs Ward at 168? No guarantee Ward wins IMO.

I would favor him over everybody, giving only Ward a chance to win a close decision. I would love to see the mini war MSM and Froch would put on.

Br Butt. I didn't single Carl Froch OUT ! Someone aboce said Mathew Saad was a faster version of Carl Froch. So I responded...I have GREAT RESPECT for Carl Froch, who is a genuine tough guy who fears no one...But Mathew Saad was just a better talent, and as courageous a fighter I ever saw...

Yeah, Burt I've heard you voice your respect for Froch a few times. A throwback, but mainly because he's in an era if businessmen.

I think a peaking Saad would likely be the reigning champ today, or certainly the best among peers. B-hop is really starting to show his age, Dawson's flaws have been exposed and there really isn't much else in that weight class, unless I'm missing something.. Saad in my opinion does well in any era, regardless of how steep the comp is.

EDIT - Sorry. Missinterpreted the thread topic.

Saad stops Hopkins, Ward and Froch,...especially Froch..He'd cleanly ko Froch, unlike Hopkins, who would have to hit Froch in the crotch.
