Really don't know if this one been covered, but how would spinks do in rocks place? Spinks fighting a little over his lght heavy weight 'how would he do against the old Joe Louis in his last fight? How would spinks deal with the crafty veteren Walcott? Then facing another light heavyweight in Charles? Would don Cockell fare better and would spinks meet his match in the old mongoose???
I don't think Spinks would need to be over 200 lbs to fight well in that era. At 190 or so he would have been fine and for all we know it might have been an ideal level. He'd still have some of his light heavyweight speed and stamina with a little more mass and strength. As for how he'd do against some of Rocky's best opponents? He beats Lastarza, Layne, Cockell, Moore, and the aged Louis. Charles and Walcott would be debatable but good fights regardless of outcome.
Very good question. I'm not sure he beats Walcott or Moore. But Charles on the decline should be a win but he turned up really sharp both fights so it isn't a given. The rest of the fights are easy matches.
Think both both u guys got it near what I was thinking. Cockell, lastarza and the other contenders I think he beat s easily, old Joe I see putting on a brave show , very much like he did against rock, but been stopped late rounds. Walcott and Charles I see givin him tough times. Can see spinks winning but especially Charles giving him a hard fight. Archie may be the one spinks needs to be wary off. He was no spring chicken by then but could still bang!
I think he has a good chance of running the table here. Spinks, like Marciano, was a pro and came into the ring very prepared. His youth would win the day against the better (and older) opponents Marciano faced. The likes of Layne and Lastarza and Cockell are simply outclassed in every manner.
Yes think he would stand very good chance of hitting the 49-0. And then if he got past old man Archie how do u see him doing against Patterson?
