How would Naseem have done in a rematch against Barrera if he had trained 100 percent?

It's not just about training hard. By the time naz fought barrera he was so far up is own a** that he hadn't been hungry and willing to learn and change things up slightly for a while.

To beat barrera he would have needed to be at the top of his game for many camps in a row and be willing to do whatever it took to win. His ego by that time wouldn't have allowed that.

Even if he trained hard I do not think he would have any answer for Barrera. Barrera completely outfought and out thought him. His style left him vulnerable to elite level fighters, add to that his ego and he said he was having problems with his hands (whether as bad as he claimed is a question). Think Barrera would have always been favourite to beat him. Also he probably was not capable any more of the level of training that level required.

I remember reading that Barrera found it a tough fight from a mental perspective as he had to be very disciplined and box a cautious tactical fight. Barrera has stated that he only used middling power as he did not want to allow Hamed to get a counter in. I think Naseem would have been soundly beaten in a rematch - either he would have been too tentative through loss of confidence, or he might go in guns blazing and get brutally countered. Barrera was just another level above Naseem. A younger Naseem and a pre-Jones aggressive Barrera would have been a war and maybe that would have given Naseem his best chance.

Maybe thats the conclusion. What determines heart? I think its how you biunce back from bad times.
The ability to keep going no matter what.
Hell, the whole rocky franchise is about that.

Unfirtunately as great as Naz was he did lack heart compared to the mini fab 4 of that era.
Sometimes people end up in a down wards spiral and cant get out.
Happened to Pavlik, as well after bhop.

Naz would only have matched Barrera during his time with Brendan Ingle, the moment he got too big for his boots and decided he knew more about boxing than Ingle he began to decline. He had tremendous power and a great chin but he was a shadow of himself by the time he fought Barrera.

In peak condition, fully focused and prepared who knows

Once Naz left the Ingle gym he was done. Nothing he could have done would reverse that. A young Naz vs Barrera is a different fight.
