Roy Jones is probably the GOAT at 168.

yes skillswise, but the competition at present is only ward, no other smw has shown the full range of top level skills in the division.

    Ward would lose to Calzaghe
    Eubank
Benn has a chance of knocking him out, so does RJJ.

Benn vs Froch would be a good fight.
Would slightly favour Froch, I think he can withstand the onslaught and come on strong in the 2nd half of the fight when Benn always tires.

Benn knocks out Groves & Degale
Ward would need to be on point vs Benn, because if Benn connects its over.
Same way how Benn and RJJ would go.

1:03 mark Ward getting dropped hard by Boone followed by him getting staggered and badly hurt by Kenny ''The Real Krusher'' Kost

    [YT]V45e1dERVVw[/YT]

Ward was one or two shots away from being put to sleep by Kenny ''The Real Krusher'' Kost there. Kost has an absolutely pitiful 33% KO percentage and it was amassed against a murderer's row like this:

    Julio Cesar Lanzas 0-0-0
    John McLean 0-1-0
    Kwan Manassah 6-19-2
    Marris Virgil 15-60-3
    Jason Dietrich 8-15-0
    Butch Hajicek 0-0-0
    Chad Taylor 0-1-0
    Nathan Martin 7-3-0

Ward getting wobbled and stunned by Arthur Abraham jabs. Abe was famous for his thunderous punching power down at 160 has an abysmal KO percentage up at 168. He's scored three stoppage wins since 2009 (when he sparked a way past it Taylor in the dying seconds of the final round) and one of them was on a cut and the other because his opponent damaged their hand/wrist after catching him on the elbow.

    10:26, 18:44 and 19:21 marks.

Look at replay at the 21:07 mark. Ward feels that jab right down to his boots. He needed his best poker face to ride that one out.

Abe was more than holding his own for the first few rounds, IMO. I had it at no worse than two a piece going into the 5th round, IIRC, and let's be real here Abe gassed very early in that fight too.

Look at how he slumps over the ropes at the 28:58 and 32:55 marks of the video. The fight hasn't even reached the halfway mark and he's blowing out of his ass. Carl ''Willie Pep'' Froch shut a better version of that Abe out 12-0.

    Thanks.

:yep Why do you think he spends so much time lunging in and grabbing a hold of his opponent before they've got a chance to get a shot off or directly after he's let one go?

Ward still beat those guys and still will beat anyone. He could fight 100 fights and he'd win every single one, none even close to being disputable. The guy just doesn't lose. Accept it. Quote me in ten years and Ward will be a retired undefeated ATG or still fighting and whooping guys at 40.

Benn beats all mentioned imo. including ggg. But loses to roy jones junior handily also to prime toney. Looking back it was the golden era for supermiddleweights. As much as their good fighters today and i m not really an old timer at 33 i think they were better tougher back then. Sports science has improved a lot in recent years but nigel benn for example was running up to 12/15 miles in high altitude leading up to the mclellan fight if i remember correctly. Although a lot of people will shout that down as stupid training. Theirs something about it that will toughens a fighter up not just physically but mentally as well. The techniques and trainings increased the longetivity of careers nowdays and its a better way to train but these were different animals back then to todays fighters imo.

Froch and GGG are far too hittable to get by Benn.

Those clips really make me worry for Ward if a prime Benn, G-Man or RJJ would have landed a hard shot on him.. GGG and Kovalev also.

That is only because he is retired. The same statement can be made regarding Joe Calzaghe, except he piled up 46 wins.

lets be honest here, ward doesnt survive against stevenson, kovalev or beterbiev.
not a chance. he should hope ggg comes up to face him, because he wont move to 175 with the murders up there.

Only Kovalev has a relative chance against Ward. He'd outbox Adonis and Artur easily. He's too smart and has too much in box of tricks to lose to those one dimensionals
