Paul doesn't just struggle with elite southpaws, he also struggles with elite orthodox boxers as well. Margarito is anything but quick, accurate and now even power. Pavlik is all of those things. He may be methodical, but a right hand from Pavlik would destroy Paul. He also knows how to set it up.

 

He would have knocked Pavlik's ass out right there. You guys are comparing a skilled southpaw like Martinez who was arguably the best at 154 to Pavlik?, Pavlik is more one dimensional than Margarito.

Pavlik doesn't even look good against ****ing Rubio. Williams just fought an opponent at middleweight arguably better than everyone, except for Taylor, that Pavlik fought and Williams isn't even 100% middleweight.

This is Williams' replacement for Pavlik because Pavlik canceled after suffering a thumb injury, who is Pavlik fighting?, Lockett's father?

Williams just gave you one of the best middleweight fights of the past few years. What did Pavlik give?, oh yeah, let's not talk about what happened against 43 year old Hopkins who the same newbies thought would knock Hopkins out cold in three. :rofl

For the people that are saying Pavlik would have KOed him they need to realize that Pavlik is not that slick of a boxer and will not get that many counter opportunities because the guy is not a counter puncher. This is exactly why some fighters do not fight the best because of a few dumbass fans who think because a fight is close or a figher losses a fight, then the fighter is a bum. Williams or Martinez did not have to take this fight.

 

Paul Williams could raise his hand in between rounds to show the crowd he's winning and even that would land and rock Pavlik.

Please mention A SINGLE good middleweight title defense Pavlik has had since winning the titles?. Williams just gave people a fight better than all of Pavlik's title defenses and Pavlik won the title in 2007.

Considering the economy, 80% of members here are now officially in trailer parks so you get the idea, this thread will be PACKED with full support of how their trailer idol will win within a round or 2, like they said about Hopkins. I never asked these trailer losers to bump my comments about how Hopkins will take him to elementary school, give him a tour, make a joke out of him by taunting him at 43 years of age and win when they laughed at my comments and called me a delusional hater. I judge based on styles, not based on which trailer is he leading unlike emotional homosexuals which are sadly PACKING this place lately.

 

People forget that Williams had to been training for months to fight Pavlik, it isn't easy to switch within a month to fight one of the best, if not the best 154 fighter, who by the way happens to be a slick, southpaw.

 

Paul Williams showed tonight that he is a class above Pavlik. I think Paul Williams is a future all time great, and can anyone doubt it after seeing this fight?

It almost looks like the powers that be tried their best to sabotage Williams by throwing him in with the best 154 pounder thinking he would lose and Pavlik would get out of fighting him. Well he won, and he didn't just win but he showed he has the heart and ability to adapt throughout 12 rounds. He has all the tools to be great, while Pavlik has not proven he has all the tools.

I think Martinez is actually a better boxer than any boxer Pavlik has ever faced and its obvious that Pavlik has ducked out of the Williams fight because he knows he can't win.
