Would be a nice legacy bump. That's a tough matchup and little monetary reward I'd imagine but it would be worth it if he pulled it off.

Pavlik is Done. If he can't beat Martinez who is a smaller fighter at 160 how is he going to compete with the cream of the crop two divisions north? Pavliks biggest attribute is his power and his chin. Both would mean nothing against a light heavy weight. He has no speed no footwork and one maybe two meaningful punches. Pavlik is in limbo. He can no longer make weight at his competitive weight and doesn't have the skills to compete with the guys in the heavier divisions. Say goodbye to kp.

That would be the logical way to look at it, but we are dealing with the finest Youngstown spastics here.

You make some good points, but Pavlik's main problem with Martinez was speed, not the opponent's size and/or power. If he can gain muscle and carry his power somewhat, then he could be successful at higher weights. In all of his losses so far, Pavlik's problem was not being able to find the target. But as he's moving up, he will face slower guys. All this is futile if KP can't carry his power moving up and isn't as motivated anymore, of course.

Pavlik isn't going to amount to **** at light heavyweight. I would pick 7 out of the top 10 over him easy, and the remaining 3 would be 50-50 toss ups. He can't adapt to problems, his trainer is ****, his cutman is crap and he is as 1 dimensional as a top fighter can get and be standing. Taylor showed where boxing can beat this guy, Martinez capitalized on those lessons, and now you are going to throw him to the likes of Chad Dawson and expect him to compete. He is going to be sent back to Youngstown on a stretcher.

The thing is that he's not going to be facing slower guys in these divisions if he wants to aim for the better fighters. At 168, you've got Bute, Ward, and Dirrell. At 175, there's Dawson, Pascal, Hopkins. And that's not even mentioning the physically stronger/more imposing fighters at these higher weight divisions. The way I see it....Kelly's days as a title holder are over. And we can forget about him becoming a lineal champion at either weight.

    I have to agree.

But I wasn't talking about him being competitive vs the top dogs like Dawson, Pascal or Cloud, that would be laughable. I would give him a fair chance vs other guys though, like Johnson, Erdei or Green. But there are a lot of 'ifs' involved, like if he's able to carry his power, or if he can be serious, motivated and work hard.

There are guys on the list I think he can compete with, thats why I listed about 15 of them. Top level is a level I don't believe he can come close to achieving at 175. But there's some guys on the list that he might beat.
