How would a guy like Povetkin do in the 90's? Does he beat any of the big four?

How does he do vs the rest? Old Foreman? Mercer? Moorer? Ruddock? Tua, Ibeaubuchi, Morrison etc

I think he does pretty well.

Lewis is the obvious stumbling block and a prime Tyson would be as dangerous as hell.

But I've always thought he'd beat Bowe and that he might do well vs Holyfield as well.

He's slowed down quite a bit and has become a more timing oriented fighter. But he used to be a very busy fighter himself and the guys he couldn't KO he would outpoint. Sasha is just such a well rounded fighter; he can do a bit of everything. Only thing he is missing is being 6'4 instead of 6'2.

I think he does fine. He'd be around Morrison's level, maybe a tad higher die to his greater resilience, and that'd make him potential champion-level material. I think he'd give fighters like Holyfield real problems, but potentially come a cropper against the bigger men of the division like Lewis and Bowe due to his weaknesses on the outside.

Tyson in the 90s would be a barnburner.

I think he does very well, remember only a prime Vlad beat him. Lewis and Tyson would be the hardest fights and when Alex is putting on pressure he could be dangerous vs both also Alex has some good ability. Bowe gets hit too much and Alex wins

the fights against Lewis and Tyson and Evander are 50-50 fights

He'd be just below the very top guys and pick up an alphabet title if one was going.

    Let me put that together:

He beats Bowe, and got 50% against Tyson (Ruddock version also?), the best Lewis and Holyfield?

    Morrison/Mercer level.
Could pick up a belt if he gets the right fights.

    He beats Alex Stewart.
    Beats Bert Cooper.
Gives 90s George Foreman a tough fight
Beats Morrison(Morrisons chin is not good enough)

Slight favorite over Moorer(although Moorer is underrated but Povetkin has a good style vs Moorer)

Slight favorite over post Tyson&Lewis ruddock

Loses to prime Ruddock in a good fight he doesn't have the range to snipe him like Lewis and he would get timed by the smash just like the much faster Tyson did.

Gives Bowe a great fight(Bowe is too easy to hit and Povetkin is much bigger than Holyfield who gave Bowe hell in the first fight fighting the same agressive way Povetkin would)

Gives Lewis a decent fight depends on how much Lewis is allowed to hold(Based on styles)

Loses clearly to Holyfield(gets beaten to the punch and then gets his counter countered)

Loses clearly to Tyson. Obviously he can't box him, and he loses the slugfest because although they have similar power Tyson is quicker and more elusive.

I have seen Povetkin look bad and I have seen him look great and YES he would have a good chance with Tyson (Buster did it) he takes a better shot than Rudduck and he can put pressure on a fighter (Lennox vs Rahman) AP is 40 but still a dangerous foe for Joshua especially with the Mexican meat that so many fighters eat over the last few decades

Shall we replace Povetkin for "Mercer" in exactly the same sentence, with the difference of Mercer having an iron chin? We both know what he did in that decade.

Povetkin for me is on the level of Morrison, taking a better shot but having less power. He´s a good infighter.

Wlad put him down as soon as round 2.

He´s not having 50% chance vs. Tyson (90s), Bowe, Holyfield and Lewis. Where does this nonsense come from?
I hope its the math here...

Mercer had an iron chin but he was not as skilled as Povetkin. Bowe took awful beatings getting hit too much. The Vlad that dropped Povetkin & AJ and one punch KO'd many could also drop Tyson and Evander & Lewis. Povetkin has a solid chin and can punch with both hands. If Buster Douglas could KO Tyson why wouldnt AP not be able to. Tyson could blow him out of the ring but I could also see the Tyson that lost to Douglas and Evander losing to Povetkin. Povetkin is a much better fighter than Morrison with a far better chin and skills and that is good math.

    Povetkin is a good competitor.

He would be in the mix with the likes of Ruddock, McCall, [old] Holmes, Morrison, Tua, Ibeabuchi, Golota, Bruno, Mercer, etc.

I doubt he'd fair all too well with the top-top guys, though.
