Mercer had a more consistent jab than Povetkin and Wlad would find it hard to hurt Holy, the Tyson that fought Douglas would be destroyed by Povetkin but during the Rooney years Mike was on another planet to this guy, and he took Ruddock`s best punches so could probably take Povetkin`s quite well if his conditioning was better than it was during his awful display vs Douglas.

I think if Price can tag Povetkin then Ruddock would of too and Tyson took a shot better than Povetkin.

frank beat several people at minor unreognised title level, and one at full world title level.

It appears you dont know what you talking about.

Heavyweights that actually went for it were few and far between, at the time, and Povetkin was one of those that did.

Agree. A well-managed rematch, would have been welcome and worth a watch.

He might. Povetkin is a very constant fighter with skills, mental toughness a top chin, and underrated power in his hook. When you consider how many off nights Holyfield and Bowe had, Lewis being Ko'd twice by one punch, and Tyson not really doing that much ( in the 1990's ) , I can see him as a champion, depending on who he fought and when.

He's not likely beating Lewis at his best, or Bowe at his best, which was just 2-3 fights. I would pick him over McCall and Rahman though.

I think Povetkin would beat Morrison, Mercer, Tua, and Ruddock. Ike? Likely not. Moorer, probably a great fight that he wins late. Old Foreman? Easy win.

If Povektin at an old age can defeat Joshua, his legacy can improve.

I love Mercer but he was very beatable ask Jesse Furgerson, I agree with Tyson being on a roll with Rooney but most of his opponents were already beat mentally, I think Povetkin having that Olympic gold behind him would go into that fight beleiving he would win.

Rudduck got stopped by Dave Jaco & wasnt the puncher when he was on the defensive and chinny.

I think Anthony Joshua is the better gold medal winner than Povetkin but its still going to be interesting to see how the 40 year old Povetkin does in September. I think Povetkin would have beaten Wilder back when they were scheduled to fight.

say you, ha ha....you can never tell until 2 men share a ring. Povetkins pressure gives him a chance vs Lewis & Tyson. It was Rahman & McCalls pressure that took Lewis out with one punch. I think it was heart and mental strength that beat Tyson against Evander & Buster. I can not be certain if Povetkin would have it those qualities against the best in the division of the 90's but you make it like you have a crystal ball or are so knowlegable. -WRONG !!

Povetkin would have been a top 3 or 4 Heavyweight like he was in his era.

The 90s was a FAR weaker HW era, the whole world couldn't compete, but the top 3 was strong. The top 20 was ridiculously weak, He would have definitely have won a world title and been a strong player.

Wouldn't that make him the 3rd best HW of the 90s?

Fun match while it lasts, Povetkin would land his hooks and probably has a few wild exchanges with Bowe, but I expect Bowe to time him and land an overhand right that hurts Alex and Bowe finishes him in about 7 rounds

Another terrific fight, mostly exchanges with Povetkins jab possibly winning the less active rounds, I think that Povetkin could get a KD here, only to get pasted when Evander gets back up, Holyfield KO in an absolute classic fight

Same as the Holyfield fight but only more competitive, I rate Povetkin slightly above Ruddock but would still pick Tyson of 91 to beat Povetkin, and pretty comfortably as well but a post prison Mike vs Povetkin is a different matter. I'd pick Povetkin to win on points before 2000 but to get a late stoppage afterwards, about the 11th.

Would anyone else consider Povetkin as Mike's number 1 win if he was prime?

Lewis Klitschko's Povetkin but actually stops him and doesn't hold as much, he manages to slip his Right hand before Povetkin gets inside, probably on the way in, and hurts him repeatedly to force a stoppage
    Lewis KO

I'd wager that Lennox, tua, Tyson, Bowe, holyfield, moorer, Briggs, Morrison and old man foreman would knock him out.

He'd probably a top 10 somewhere in there but I couldnt see him as a top 5 at any point, that was too competitive of a era.

Povetkin is a more skilled boxer than Morrison was.

I don't think Povetkin could have adapted his style to beat Foreman like Tommy did. Tommys left hook was also better than Povetkins so i kinda have to disagree with you on that.
However Povetkin could and would have defeated Moorer to became champ of that era like Foreman did. Boxing is all about timing they say.

Yes and Povetkin has better timing than Moorer, Morrison and Foreman had in the 90`s.
