How would prime Antonio Tarver do against prime Sven Ottke?
    What do you think?

I think its a bit of a mismatch. Tarver is a bit slow and Ottkes speed and movement I believe would cause Tarver terrible problems.
Ottke would outbox Tarver winning a clear UD.
The place where the fight takes place is critical to the scoring, so I think if the fight was in Germany Ottke wins something like 117-111, but if the fight was in America, then Ottke wins clearer at 115-113 due to strange judges decisions seeing a closer fight than there actually was.

As a form line, Ottke beat G Johnson who beat Tarver when they first fought, I think the Phantom would do the double if he fought Tarver.

    What do you think then?

How do you think slow Tarver would beat a fast costantly moving Ottke?

would be a close fight imo and i see it going to the scorecards. ottke was the superior technician but although tarver was inconsistent, on his best nights he was a tough match up for most.

i'd stick my neck out for a 115-113 win for ottke but could understand tarver edging a close fight by the same score.

    So much wrong with this.

    1. Tarver is quicker than Otke, and bigger/stronger
    2. Tarver was robbed against Glen Johnson, who in turn pushed Ottke hard, some said Johnson was robbed against Ottke, but probably not

    :yikes What!!!
Tarver would have to catch the Phantom first and that is no easy task.
Ottke would be jumping in and out and I doubt would get caught on the way in. He was too careful for that

Good post. In America I could see it being a 115-113 scorecard

I know you love Ottke Bailey but I don't rate Ottke. Stayed at home and ducked guys like Calzaghe who would have schooled him.

I take it you never saw Ottke/Johnson. It has become a thing to say that Johnson was robbed, but he wasnt. He was outboxed comfortably for long spells, and that was prime Johnson, not the one Tarver fought.

Tarver is bigger and hits harder and is probably stronger, but that is nothing new to Ottke. He was probably the lighter puncher in all of his fights, but it didnt stop him becoming a unified champ and making 21 world title defences

Calzaghe is the only fighter that I think Ottke ducked. I cant think of any other and besides where was Ottke supposed to travel to?

Ottke was very effective at what he did. He was economical with his punches and was very patient and often frustrated fighters out of their usual game plan.

But Tarver would be a bad style match up for him. Bigger, fast hands, southpaw and just as patient a counter puncher as Ottke. Ottke only wins by paying off the ref and judges and spoiling his was to survive the 12 rounds and earn a controversial decision.

In a fair fight Tarver wins a convincing UD. Though it's also possible Tarver stops him, he has the power, if Reid could drop him, Tarver could definitely stop him if he lands flush.

I agree with this. I think this fight is a bit of a mismatch, Tarver has beaten guys like Jones and Johnson, while Ottke needed a gift decision to beat Robin Reid. That's the same Reid who was outboxed by a 42 year old Malinga and quit against Mike Tyson:D

Not a bad post. I would add though that Ottke wasnt prime when he had that fight many felt he was lucky in with Reid.
I dont think Tarver has faster hands, but is patient.
Couldnt see Ottke getting stopped if it goes the way you think.
Could be close, but I favour Ottke by boxing
