What is a prime Tarver. He and Johnson who was a journeymen made their fame and won titles due to stopping a shot RJJ. Tarver loses and then wins over Johnson. Reality struck when Tarver met up with Hopkins. Tarver's stock goes up again after beating Green. Green? Green who stopped what is his mane again, oh, a washed up RJJ. Tarver should be grateful to RJJ demise. I mean, Johnson lost to anyone who had a name except for beating Harding who beat Tarver. Best names for Tarver prior to RJJ was R. Johnson, Harding, and Griffin. Circle of life with these two. Yes, Johnson fought anyone they put in front of him, but can you spell paycheck? Now you have Tarver who allegedly use steriods. If RJJ was prime when he fought these two, you would not hear too much of them.

We are talking about the undefeated Ottke who could not lose in his country?

Funny, clear even if he is losing. How many gifts did he get? Didn't Brewer get robbed? All his fights were in Germany.

Ottke was a joke. If he fought in today's era at 168 he wouldn't be in the top 10. He was the benefit of hometown decisions that let him keep his paper title. He's just like Felix Sturm is nowadays. He's held a middleweight title for years but everyone knows Martinez is the real champ...and his handlers in Germany just want him to stay in Germany and fight weak competition. Tarver would have knocked Ottke out.

Tarvers batters Ottke for 12 round but loses 115-113.

No way on earth Tarver wins in Germany, no matter how the fight looks.
As I recall the only person ever ahead of Ottke on the cards was
    Mundine.

Why should it matter if his fights were in Germany? He was German, he was champ and thats where the big money was for him.
Why would he fight in say America when he was champ? The big fights at SMW were all in Europe at that time.
As for gift decisions. You tell me. Alot of people who have never watched him mention gift decisions to fights they havent seen, or have only seen the Reid fight when Ottke was shot

If he was in todays era he would be holding one of the best resumes with his wins over Mundine, Branco, Brewer, Johnson and Mitchell to name a few

If you are world champ, you fight everywhere in the world. America is the meca of boxing. All fighters want to fight in America. I'm sure Otkke wanted to fight in America, but his handlers as you say and I also believe, wanted to make the money over in Germany where it was safe.

You got me on if I ever seen him actually fight. I have not. I only read and discussed with friends about him. I believe Brewer was mentioned as far as a gift decision on their first fight. Apologize for the late response. It was my turn to clean the bathroom and I was sweating like a Puerto Rican slave.

I think Tarver would win about 10 rounds and lose by UD.

Shocker bailey thinks a european fighter beats an american fighter go figure. I hate tarver but damn he would ko ottke badly. Ottke yeah has fast hands but damn i think paulie hits harder then him. Ottke record is 34 wins with 6 kos? YIKES! And lets be clear johnson wasnt in his prime when he fought ottke. Johnson was in his prime when he fought at light heavyweight and i thought tarver clearly beat johnson anyway in the first fight.

The extra 7lbs would probably make a difference. Ottke was a better fighter than many give him credit for, but he never struck me as someone who would be effective at higher weights. He wasn't a big SMW - while strength and power obviously weren't his trump cards, his style did rely on being able to hold his own physically at times.

Tarver was a big, rangy LHW whose frame could handle cruiser. There would likely be a significant weight difference come fight time, which would cause problems for Ottke. He never faced anyone with Tarver's physical attributes and power, whiile Tarver proved he could handle awkward boxer types like Harding, Reggie Johnson and Griffin.

I think there's two possible scenarios - Tarver could overwhelm Ottke and blow him away, or it could be an absolute stinker that Tarver edges on the cards.
