Yes, his main objective would have been to not have gotten hurt.

This would have been a huge shock to Floyd’s system.

Floyd had advantages in speed and skills over every guy he ever faced. He also had a reach advantage over almost all of his opponents.

But against Ray, for the only time in his entire career, he’d have been facing someone just as fast, but with superior offensive skills, and who was bigger, stronger and much more powerful than himself.

Which is the reason you can’t just claim that he’d have countered Ray, just like he always did against everyone else.

    Ray wasn’t everyone else.

Now Floyd’s fans all claim that he fought fast fighters before. And powerful fighters before. And bigger and stronger fighters before. And that’s true. But he never fought anybody with all of those attributes, all at once. And not only that, we’re talking here about an ATG fighter who’d have been in his prime. Literally one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport.

Floyd never fought anybody in his career who even resembled a prime Ray Leonard.

If Ray had’ve put it on him, what realistically could Floyd have done?

He didn’t have the offense or the power to have returned fire.

So IMHO, he’d have just fought ultra defensively. And if he’d have done that, he could have avoided not getting hurt. However, fighting in such a defensive manner, would have meant that he couldn’t have accumulated enough points to have won the fight.

So I think that a prime version of Ray Leonard would have been a significant favourite over a past prime version of Floyd.

I can’t see things any other way.

...has even one non-puertoricense analyst suggested Tito beats PBF, ever?

All due respect to him, as there are historical match-ups against welterweight greats in which Trinidad could do flatteringly well, but for Mayweather specifically he may not be a top 5 overall (stylistic & class) threat in the 90's alone.
