How good was a Prime Tua?

The only evidence we have of Ike being world class was him going life and death with Tua. The same Tua that Lewis beat to a pulp barely breaking sweat.

You would have to favour Wilder, AJ and Tyson Fury (100% fit) over Ike and Tua for starters.

He has become a real myth. This is typical of fighters who have their prime stolen from them either due to death or incarceration.

Don’t forget that he almost murdered Byrd, something nobody else done.

Idk, I would loved to see Ike with some other fighters but he was for sure a bad boy, you’re right about the “myth” part.

Disagree with this. I was a big Tua fan and he was never the same fighter after that Ike fight. Ike would be a huge problem in the division today. There is no way someone like Joshua would be able to keep up the pace with Ike. DW would get ko`d and Fury would likely hold Ike for 12 rounds. Prime Wlad problably beats Ike but if Ike touched that chin itd be a wrap.

Excellent post…I agree with all except the part about Wlad, I think Ike would have walked through him.

Nice post. Good to see posters who's actually WATCHED him, post about him. The johnny-come-lately's who weren't around back then, really have no idea.

I watched his fights back then and thought he was the next dominant champ .Had everything pity he went yampie !.I can't see AJ coping with him far too aggressive Wilder would be a shoot out and fury would be like defusing a bomb!

Same like he did in the 90's. Win some fights, go crazy and then jail. There was something off with him.

There were rumors of Ibeabuchi getting dropped a couple times by Kirk Johnson in sparring. Any truth to that?
