The bottom line is that he would do very well because of his power and durability, but would not be a lock of lock for a belt because of the size of some of these big boys.

Ike was a bad man, against smaller heavies like Tua and Byrd. We don't know how he would fair against a someone with a long jab.

Ike beat years off of Tua's true prime, Tua beat the sanity out of Ike. There is
no other HW before or after that Tua fought that took those shots. Even with
it being a war, Ike was visibly better than Tua, it was competitive but not all
    that close.

I think Lennox would've beaten Ike (I also think Lennox is the greatest HW H2H ever).
We don't know how good Ike was, what we do know is that he was a physical specimen:
a large, in shape HW with an indestructible chin, great power, the ability to nullify speed,
that could literally throw 1000 punches in a fight. We also know he could be outboxed
(as per the rumors of how Kirk Johnson used to school him in sparring). That being said,
Wilder and AJ do not have the skill set or punch variety of Lennox or an in shape Kirk Johnson, and Fury has
never fought a HW with that type of workrate. The jury will forever be out on Ike but
I think he was more than a myth. He showed glimpses.

Good post. Remember, many of the posters here weren't even born when they fought. :2guns:

Would be competitive in the same way Ortiz is. I don't see him knocking out Joshua.

His fight with Tua was pure brutality.

And I'll never forget the look on Chris Byrd's face when Ibeauchi caught him with that hook. He went face down into the canvas. How Byrd got up is a testament to his fortitude.

Ike was railroaded. Another big black boxer assaulting a little girl that only came to dance for him ROFL
He was given the max like Tyson who also got railroaded
I have a friend who was at that pageanthe said Desree & others were all over Mike coz he was a judge

Dillian Whyte rocked AJ. I have Ike a few levels above him so I see it a pretty even fight.

    Battle of the roid monsters.

You can watch both fights and clearly see it is a different Tua as far as ability.

Ali was rocked by Cooper, do you therefore make every big puncher a 50/50 against him? It's not good logic.

He would do better than the 90’s, because the level of competition were far better back then. I could see him win a belt, maybe even unify, but his inner demons would catch up with him imo. Dont think he would rule the HW division very long.

However if you could make a hybrid of Ike’s skills and the mentality of a Wilder/Joshua, he would clean out the whole damn thing imo!

I would have said: if you make a hybrid of Ike,s chin and aggression and the dimensions of AJ then hed clean out the division. He was only 6"2 and was his mythical power ever really confirmed? He turned Byrd into a drooling infant for sure, but Byrd could be reckless at times and really left his chin out there for that shot. Just looking back at the highlights of byrd/ike - he reminds me of a smaller AJ. Very bulky and stiff. No real Deontay spring as such. Therefore, he would be hard pressed to cuase major problems to the bigger men of the division.
