How would Prime MAB do against Floyd?

Not to well IMO, and I'm a huge fan of Barrera.

 

Floyd is too big, too strong, and too fast for MAB IMO.

 

I love MAB, but at 130 he would be picked apart and stopped by Floyd.

These threads are pointless because Morales and Barrera were not at their peak at 130.

 

Damn ****in Floyd is God now, no one can touch him.

People should know by now that in boxing anything can happen and you cant measure fighters on paper.

A great fighter a hall of famer like Mab is just pushed aside as fodder. Are you guys ****in serious. Mab is as smart in his prime as any fighter, he had a great jab. At 126 hes as good as anyone in history and he aint rollin over for no one

Ive never seen a boxer win so many fantasy matchups. Its absurd.

 

I swear to God, only in boxing do we have so many fantasy matchups and fighter who can never be beaten. Some guys needs to sober up. This is the fight game, if nothing else its the sport where anything can happen.

**** me MAB just brushed aside by Floyd??? this is pure fantasy,,,Id really like to see this for real..settle this **** in the ring. Robinson lost to La Motta,..Im sure no one expected that on paper either.. I could name countless fighters who have been upset

 

MAB may be as good at 126 as anyone (he isn't, but still, let's play Devil's Advocate), but PBF never fought there.

So for this discussion to have any meaning, this fight would happen at a weight they both fought at, 130, or you're talking about a hypothetical catchweight.

PBF is maybe (I have my doubts as I am an Arguello fan, and I think Chavez's style would've posed problems for PBF) the greatest 130lbs fighter ever.

Would the PBF who annihilated p4p#5 Diego Corrales beat the 130 version of MAB or the best 126lbs version of Barrera in a catchweight contest?

Of course he would, whether you are a fan of his or not.

To avoid people just coming onto the thread and irritating you guys by bluntly giving a definitive one-word answer ("Mayweather"), why not create threads pitting Barrera and Morales against guys who actually fought in their peak weight divisions????

Well even at 130 prime Mab can cause Floyd problems, this is only 5 punds south of JLC who gave Floyd problems. And lots of people would have given Floyd problems at this weight..Not going deep into analysis of styles but Nelson, Camacho, Arguello, Boza edwards would have given floyd fits right of the bat. Were not talking about borderline B level contenders here..We're talking about great fighters in their own right

 

Floyd was a better fighter at 130 than he was at 135.

MAB was a better fighter at 126 than he was at 130.

This just isn't a good hypothetical. That's just my take on it though. I'll let you guys who think it is continue to debate it then, me pouring cold water on it doesn't help people give their verdicts. :good

 

prime barrera was definitely 126. if he was on his best night, i honestly see him giving floyd a close fight. i think floyd might be stronger, faster but not that much. barrera in his prime might of been floyd's toughest test. i think floyd's best weapon might be his lead right, but if barrera would fight him like he did morales on the inside i think barrera being the smaller fighter might have the adv on the inside. good fight, but floyd would win a close decision. no one maybe hatton would be on barrera's level and i doubt that

 

I think the problem with this fight is that MAB always had a ceiling to as good he could be, while PBF did not. On MAB's best day, he still wasn't as good as Floyd is. That's not taking anything away from Barerra, it's just that his skill set would never be able to beat Floyd. At 130, Floyd had pretty much every punch in his arsenal along with killer speed of hand and foot, excellent defense and a great corner. I don't think MAB could overcome this.

 

I think Camacho and Arguello would have gave him hell, but Nelson and Boza would not be able to handle his speed and movement.
