How would prime Miguel Cotto fare in today's JWW division?

I think he'd still be a belt holder. Beyond that, I think he we need to see these guys mix it up some more before we can really gauge.

 

Hard to say. His chin looked abit dodgy down their so I dont think he'd be head and shoulders above the rest. Id pick him as favourite in each fight though.

 

wtf? according to some people, he only loses when 'the other guy cheats' or because he is 'passed his prime'.

Cotto loses because he's very, very good, but not great. prime or no prime.

 

I personally think he'd beat Khan, Maidana and Ortiz...with Maidana resembling the Torres fight. Cotto would batter Ortiz into submission and Khan would get chin checked something awful. Khan could pose a threat, but his incredibly shitty chin makes him a pretty safe bet.

Bradley and Alexander vs. MAC would be interesting matchups. I think he beats Bradley, but Devon is a totally different monster

 

Well let's face it. He's never lost in his prime. Many argue his prime was beaten out of him by cheaters so...it's a good argument for now. If Steward is able to morph Miguel into the Cotto of old, then we have a brand new case for something else.

However, here in this reality, on planet earth, he lost in his prime, first to Margarito, and then to Pacquiao. He never lost at 140, but then neither had Hatton. there's no reason to think the result of Cotto/Pac would have been any different at 140.

We're actually not even sure how successful Pac would've been towards a prime Cotto, let alone a young HUGE Cotto @ 140...

Alexander is the only one i'd see seriously troubling Cotto there. Cotto has never had great head movement, and Alexander is pysichally gifted, put those two together and i think Alexander would stop him at some point, given Cotto's ability to be rocked at junior welter.

 

Bradley, Alexander give a good account of themselves. If you're talking about the Cotto that was draining himself to make 140 then give Maidana and Ortiz a punchers chance but I make Cotto a solid favorite over any of them.

Khan? Cotto splats him in two.

 

I think the weight making would cause him serious trouble against Alexander. Khan would also stand a chance of out-boxing him if he can get through the first 8 rounds or so.

Without the weight issue he beats everyone.

 

it's interesting, because I agree with most that making weight during his 140 stint was giving him a lot of problems, so he'd be vunerable to the big punchers like Maidana, but during this time, his punches were way more damaging then they are at 147 so he would definitely be more dangerous as well.

 

I got Cotto in every 1 of those fights @ 140...Bradley wuld b interesting but I think Alexander will b the closest fight. Maidana has a punchers chance but I think he is too str8 forward ala Torres
