How would Roy jones jr. fare against the ATG middle weights?

On the flipside, and you won't agree with this most likely, I don't think SRR ever fought a MW as good as Jones or anything like Jones. SRR was always faster, both foot and handspeed.

SRR was a better boxer for sure. But I think Jones was faster and hit even harder. SRR carried his power, but Jones carried his to LHW (just not his will to engage). Either way, it's a good fight.

 

At 160 RJJ had greater speed then SRR and probably had better power. SRR had the better skills because RJJ never needed those technical skills. If we are talking about the RJJ that fought BHop. He can't win. RJJ didn't need to pressure he was a great mover and could control the ring even backing up and pot shotting. Just cause RJJ fought lesser competition doesn't mean he cant handle 15. He handled Toney for 12 and could of went 12 more.

 

I would have to say that sugar gets the decision on Roy. Monzon isn't quick or athletic enough and gets tko'd by Roy late. And the Marvelous one ko's Roy as he matches him in speed and power but has the slightly better boxing skills and instincts (best MW to ever live imo). I am biased on that one though since Hagler is my fav....at least im honest!

 

Robinson, Hearns, Hagler and possibly Basilio all beat Jones. (Yes, Basilio - styles).

Jones either beats the rest, or the fight is 50/50.. even Monzon. Ketchel would be interesting, Jones would easily outbox him, but Ketchel had monsterous power at 160, second to nobody... and could find Jr's chin.

There are also a few fighters like Burley and Cerdan who could pose serious threats.

I would pick Jones over all of them with the exception of Marvin Hagler. Perhaps Carlos Monzon, although I would favor Jones.
