How would Roy Jones jr. (who fought Derrick Harmon) handle the current LHW top 5?

I just watched Jones Jr. vs Harmon. Roy looked quite average on that fight and didn´t look p4p #1 at all. I have always been Roy fan but I was surprise how different he looked compare to my biased memories. I though Jones jr. at 2000 was unbeatable. Although his hands were fast, his footwork was very average, work rate very low and looked predictable. He couldn´t even hurt Harmon.

How would he handle current top dogs at 175? I have a bad feeling Kovalev and Stevens would both beat him and by KO.

He beats them all apart from Kovalev who would knock him out.

Destroys Stevenson.. Likely beats Kovalev and Ward. We'll see how their careers play out though.

He'd get knocked out (killed?) in laughable fashion like he does nearly every fight now fighting scrubs.
You know some neurologist is getting paid.

Stevenson would get Darnell Boon'ed against Kovalev just a lot worse.

2001- version of Jones Jr. isn´t that good. I think he was over the hill already. If you disagree could you explain me, what are those special attributes that makes Roy so good (Roy who fought Harmon)?

    RJJ beats them all.

He went on to utterly destroy Gonzalez and Woods after that fight

    He was still basically prime

Beterbiev landing on a jaw as fragile as Roy's would be horrific

He looked noticeably slower in that fight.

Well, Kovalev has more tools than Stevenson. He has a wider ****nal, a better jab, can cut off the ring, and a higher ring IQ.

It was nothing more than a keep busy fight.

    He was in cruise control.

Look at his other performances around that same period.

Many fighters put in different performances based on their mindset at the time.

Look at his performances against Telesco, Gonzalez, Kelly and Woods:

Telesco: He was mouthy and he baited Roy before they fought. Roy was very fired up for that, even with an injured hand.

Gonzalez: Roy again seemed up for it, with talk of potentially fighting the winner of Tito or Hopkins afterwards, or Dariusz if something could be worked out.

Kelly: Roy put on a show after a live argument with Hopkins that got heated. I think it fired him up and he wanted to prove a point.

Woods: He seemed to be on another high in that fight, probably due to advanced talks with Ruiz for a potentially huge HW fight to make history.

To be honest, I thought he looked good against Harmon. It was just a workout. I think you're reading too much into it.

Regarding Kovalev and Stevenson, I'd have to have favoured Roy. He was still incredibly fast and I think his speed would have caused them a world of trouble.

    :good

I don't think so. Kovalev looks easy to hit to me.

Yeah, I'm sure he'd have just been there static for Kov and Adonis to easily despatch.
