difference being shane could realistically make and fight at 160. i don't think williams can physically get his weight up that high. he has to eat like a horse just to get over the mw limit.

agree but shane would not be competitive at 160lbs at all. just like saying JMM at 147 or pac at 154lbs.

Anything that weighs 147 or below would get KO

If Mosley fought while standing on Cotto's shoulders he might be able to compete at 160. Otherwise, no.

not well his power will be of the hardest puncher at 147
but average puncher at 160. his speed wont be there with the bulk.
Those other guys will be stronger and faster at there natural weight.
it is not Ideal to move up in weight once you found your best natural weight

Against who? Against a slick cookie like Martinez? Not that well, against Sturm, probably not well. Against John Duddy-Chavez Jr winner (at 160), he kicks their ass

Against some of the walking punching bags in the division right now maybe not so bad. There is no reason to think Shane couldn't be competitive with a guy like Sturm who isn't very active right now or Sylvester who isn't very good. The champ isn't a huge MW by any estimation and I would favor Martinez do to style, age, freshness, but it is a spot where Shane could surprise.

Hes way too small.... martinez would put him to school!! If pavlik was still able to make 160 he would **** shane in the ring.... The cops might be called after the fight..

I'd hate to see it. Shane would lose to guys who are nowhere near his pound for pound equal.

He has a lot of fights at 154. A fight with Martinez would be a way for him to launch himself to the top of the sport one more time. A victory would be a huge ATG type of victory and the money would be better than against Berto or anyone else I can think of except maybe Pac. Maybe the risk would lead him to do it if the opportunity presented itself. As to if he would win I would not bet on it. I'm confident he doesn't get blown out of the ring in one or two rounds as he has fought many fighters as large as Martinez. The biggest problem for him against Martinez isn't size or weight but the fact that Martinez has better stamina and work rate than Shane.

you guys are getting your knickers in a twist, i never said anything about him fighting pavlik or martinez thats a bit ambitous but lok at roberto duran he fought at the weiht of 160 he was smaller and didnt have as much one punch ko as shane plus he fought when the division was more loaded

i am preety confident shane could win a title if he cherry picked the right opponents

if he struggles like hell 2 make weight against floyd
he may be competative at 160

if not, well he just got waled down by a welterweight so i doubt a middleweight would struggle
