Once again a lie. Williams was rated 10th when Sonny Liston beat him in 1960

Then don't say Williams was unrated when he fought Liston because you are lying out of your arse. Williams was rated 10th in the world in 1960 and was smack in the middle of his prime when Liston dominated him

    why? how?

Williams was big and fast, hit hard, was a handfull but williams did not beat elite fighters. without doing that all the big cat's record shows is that he was bigger than most and had a talent for beating the guys everyone else could beat.

Williams beat Ernie Terrell, an elite fighter WBA heavyweight champion. He also drew with Eddie Machen, an Elite fighter.

said the anouncer on the night of the fight. no magazines rated him or ernie cab or culey lee so how does getting KO'd by Liston get williams the 10 spot?

but this was after losing to Liston and before terell had become the fighter he became.

When he met Liston williams had only been active for 2 of 4 years.

scott ledoux drew with Ken Norton and Leon spinks was scott an elite fighter too?

Liston couldn't stop Holyfield in 3 with a baseball bat.

I don't think martin would have beaten foreman. Fair play if you do. Each to their own.

when you look at him fighting liston you can tell that he was already a good fighter AND ranked.

I agree Williams looked a handful against Liston. The big cat looked world class losing against Liston but Sonny was Williams's second world class opponent and his 3rd and 4th loss. To be an established world class contender before that point you have to have defeated a world class opponent or am I missing something? Williams was an unproven prospect at that point.

Even If you can find proof of a magazine printing williams within its top ten before facing Liston I would struggle to accept he was world class without beating a name fighter.
