How would Sturm fare at SMW?

So, Sturm is talking about how he wants to fight the winner of Stieglitz vs Abraham. Sturm supposedly walks around at 190lbs and has had a few close calls at MW in recent years (Macklin, Gevor, etc). Would a move to SMW be beneficial for him?

Would you favor him against the likes of Kessler, Froch, Bute?

SMW is deeper than what middleweight was, but I still wonder if Sturm would want to mix it up with the top SMWs in the world.

I personally favor all of the top SMWs against Sturm, but I fear that if he managed to beat Stieglitz/Abraham and took the belt that he wouldn't end up fighting any of the top guys.

I guess there's always the possibilities of the Abraham(should he beat Stieglitz) and Pavlik fights that never happened.

He would lose to them all except the euro-level guys like Abraham. Heck, he would probably lose to him aswell.

The myth is the super-middleweight division is talent rich.

    It's far from it.

True on both counts. Just check the Ring top 10.

Hey how about this wild idea: Sturm vs JCC at 168, for a vacant belt? Or better yet, win the belt off of AA/Stieglitz, then Junior can enter the division in style.

I think Sturm has already called dibs on that one.

Might not be "talent rich", but deeper than the middleweight division, wouldn't you say?

Yeah, he must have watched the S6 keenly. Jr will likely have moved up and snatched a vacant belt by the time Sturm goes for wbo 168.

Middle has had no depth for a while, picking up a little. But 168 is not as deep as thought, witness Froch not being able to land a decent challenger. The Ring has Stieglitz at 2, Oosthuizen 4, Groves 6, Edwin Rodriguez 9! These last 3 have admitted they're not ready to challenge a guy like Froch (or even Adonis Stevenson!)

nice to see he finally got tired of the nearly 20 defenses of 1 title while he he dared to be a giant joke with not one meaningful unification fight...until now...and unifying means crap when the other guy in your WBA family is better than the IBF belt holder

Both divisions aren't really deep to be honest. I guess more fights could be made at super-middleweight at the moment.

Only three guys who have true talent in the division. Dirrell, Kessler and Ward.

Froch is good but i don't rate his apparent ''boxing skills.''

George Groves won't get better than he is now. Degale isn't any good. Both guys can beat Abraham though.

Oosthuizen is a prospect who won't go far. Stieglitz is garbage.

Adonis Stevenson is an friday night fights type fighter.

    Bika gives anyone problems.

Bute got exposed for what he was. But what does that tell you about the competition?

Ward has to rematch Kessler. I hope he does that next.

Ward vs Kessler 2 is the biggest fight to be made. Then Froch vs Kessler 2. Kessler can beat both even now.
