Marquez would probably win. Just too good a combination puncher that likes to hold his ground and counter off of opponents work. Tank is actually a very talented fighter and has a wealth of experience (in the AMs), combined with a spiteful fighting style. Tank also likes countering but is aggressive in his approach and does like to pressure, but just isn't as a refined, thoughtful fighter as Marquez. Tank's just in it for the money not legacy, typical prize fighter which is fair enough, but he's a cherry picker too, unfortunately.
JMM thrives on southpaws. He'll probably get dropped early on but will outbox him badly later on. Tank's aggression is open to JMM's combinations.
Prime JMM? He would rough Tank up. Tank likes old guys and is more likely to fight old man JMM today but not prime. Also, JMM wasn’t a cherry picking ducker like Tank. He fought legit opponents and was no coward. Can’t say the same for Twitter Champ Tank. It’s an insult to mention these two in the same sentence.
Marquez has incredible recovery powers. I can imagine Tank scoring a knockdown only for Marquez to get up and outbox him like he did against Pacquiao.
Amazingly I’d imagine, this would have been a great fight. I think Tank would get the KO on Márquez in a bloody life & death war at light weight. I think at 147lb Márquez Blows the Tracks off of Tank, sets him up ugly like he did to Paquiao. unfortunately Mayweather Promotions would never make those fights. who would be the equivalent to Issac “Pitbull” Cruz from the Márquez generation? that’s probably more like the conversation we should be having.
Tank Chris John's him in a Mayweather event with Mayweather judges Tank needs to step it on up already, 27 years old but is faffing around.
We cannot really assess that now until Tank’s career is over. What we do know is Marquez is an all time great an excellent boxer and counter puncher. It was never proven that Marquez can be knocked out. We know he can be floored but like night follows day we know he gets up. In this fight potentially the key could be Tank’s boxing ability and speed. Marquez is a very dangerous fight for anybody.
Given I'm not remotely sold on Tank seeing as he's hardly fought a live body, I'd take a JMM schooling every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Tank struggled with a shot Gamboa, how the hell is he going to cope with Marquez? Levels...
