How would the best version of Mark Kerr fare in the current UFC HW division ?

wich fight of him would you say determines his "best" version ?

 

those kind of comparison are impossible to make in my opinion
unless you could transport the HW division in the time to where he was in his prime
because the skillset & training methods were not the same
especially in his UFC days (UFC 14-15)

good power wrestler, vivious ground knees, soso standup, insane power & GnP, good submisions
weak heart but durable guy

unfortunattely he was addicted to pain killers & tons of other stuff
not shure the guy was all that clean

 

Kerr considers himself "99.9 percent" retired and is pursuing a degree with an eye on pharmaceutical sales

He'd kick some serious ass. Kerr was an insanely strong heavy. He was also an excellent grappler with an array of subs and BRUTAL GnP. In todays UFC he'd simply have his way with ANY heavyweight. Problem is without his drugs Mark was a fraction of himself. His physical peak was when he was in Brazil. That version would take down any heavy in the UFC and smash them to **** with elbows and open palm strikes Bas Rutten style :yep

 

How exactly? It's not like we are comparing Jack Johnson and Lennox Lewis here :huh

And to answer the question, top 10 easily, top 5 at his best. Brock did it with less imho

 

Brock did it with only wrestling so yeah Kerr would be top 5

 

Kerr had his prime in his first year... it's a real shame he wasn't born 15 years later! He would have been a force!

At his best he'd do quite well, just due to pure power and brutality

But in todays UFC how many drug tests would he fail?

 

He wouldn't get to first base with his drug taking.

Did seem like a strong guy with good skills, i guess if Lesnar did ok in this generation, Mark Kerr has a chance as well.

The guy did have a pea heart when things didn't go his way.

When it comes to Mark Kerr, I think people remember how well he handled his competition as opposed to considering the competition he was handling.

Kerr was also roiding and downing pain killers like crazy. I don't know if he could get licensed to fight under current conditions. Hell, he may have been a lightheavy if he had come along recently.

 

hed be a top ten guy who would take guys down a few times until they stood back up against the cage where the hard workers and big strikers like overeem, cain and jds would take his soul.
thats if he didnt gas from the vigorous climb into the cage first.

 

He'd have to avoid being popped for roids. So that should be a very important factor in all of this.
