Yeah great list from 96 welterweights, de LA hoya would of been a year away as well. If u add de LA hoya that's 3 top 5 p4p fighters.
Also jose Luis lopez n I'd favour the 96 list easy.
Prob the best welter era since Leonard, hearns, duran and benitez.

Do you have every ring mag from 96?
Im sure I bought a few that year,
I remember the one with sweet pea on the cover with a p4p jacket n I think Lou de Valle was in new prospects. Great era that.

No, I only kept one mag, the March edition because it had a list of the top 50 fighters from the last 50 years before `96, good list, fun decade.

Trinidad and Pea beat all 4. Ike is 50/50 and Oba might win once but i think he loses to all four.

I think they would mostly be competitive fights tbh. Whitaker was starting to show decline and didn't look unstoppable against Rivera and Hurtado though I did think he edged out Oscar a year later.

Carr and Quarter were both quality fighters who were around the same as the current lot, could win or lose any.

Trinidad may well blow through them all or end up in a war with them.

Danny Garcia wouldn't even be in the top 10 in some eras. Trinidad and Whittaker would make him look like a club fighter.

96 Whitaker goes .500 at best. I think Bud and Spence beat that version. Neither are good styles matchups for an older Whitaker (particularly Spence), and Pea was dropping rounds to lesser fighters at this point.

Hot take: Spence knocks him out. Too big, too good of a body attack, too much volume, too much pressure. He's exactly the wrong kind of fighter for an older Whitaker.

I think Spence beats Whitaker but it’ll be closer vs Crawford, I’d favour Crawford but possible pea just makes a fool of him.

Tito probably beats Spence in a war but gets outboxed by Crawford.

    Nostalgia dude.

Spence is great at cutting off the ring and going to the body, and he’s a huge guy going against a 5’6 Whitaker. He’ll probably stop him.

Tito got his ears boxed off by Oscar, Crawford will do the same.
