Quarry could pose problems as he has a good track record against big sluggers. Mac Foster, Shavers, Lyle, etc. The rest don’t last with George too long
I give Quarry the best shot out of the lot to beat Foreman. Shavers has a chance too, should he land he can make it interesting. Everyone else is lunch meat.
Buster Mathis Sr had severe weight issues, he could bounce around pretty good, but George would pummel him to the deck very easily, worse than Joe Frazier and Muhammad Aki could ever do. Jerry Quarry despite his knockout loss to George Chuvalo in 1969 would prove to be a tough adversary for George, Jerry was a very good counterpuncher who could possibly take George into deep waters though Foreman would win this one maybe due to a late stoppage, as he did hit harder.
I see what you mean but i do not see this scenario to occur. George simply wrecks everything in front of him. Especially the pre Ali Version. He just overwhelms guys like Quarry with his raw strength, just like he did it with Frazier. As I wrote in a previous threat: Foreman only had problems with in and out style fighters and slick outside boxers like Ali and Young. If something stands infront of him flatfooded he just annihilates it. Maybe a prime Ellis could get the decision over old George if he does it like Schulz did!?
All of them get stopped within five rounds. Bonavena would be a stubborn hurdle but the ref steps in to save 'Ringo' from punishment. I've never gone along with the school of thought that says Quarry would be a major problem for George. Foreman was more explosive than Ron Lyle and took a powerful shot better than Earnie Shavers. Foreman cuts off the ring on Jerry and sucks him into a brawl. Only one winner in this scenario.
