I'm thinking of some great heavyweights who for whatever reason never fought a certain style of opponent. Im not implying they avoided them, but heres 2 that come to mind. Bowe against a good power puncher Lewis against a good southpaw How do you think they would have done? Any other great heavyweights that you have questions about a certain style match up?
Bowe did well against a decent power puncher in Cooper. Against someone like prime Foreman, not so sure. In a way Bowe was like Holyfield in that he usually picked up thrown gauntlets, and would be fine trading. With George that would have been disastrous for him. Pretty sure prime Iron Mike would have given him a major headache at the very least. I can't see Wilder making it 10 against prime Bowe, nor Shavers.
Rooney era mike tyson against heavyweight swarmers or ferocious inside fighters. Technically, this early version of mike did face more than one fighter who was willing to trade punches with him like tony tubbs and jose ribalta and he beat them down. But man, the amount of money i would have spent to watch him him at his peak fighting against a true brutal "roughhouse" fighter like frazier, Marciano, demspey or even holyfield himself is unimaginable!
