How would this super 6 at 168 have played out

This depends on seeding. I wouldn't want to face Jones or Toney early on if I'm a guy like Calzaghe.

 

Toney absolutely outclasses and destroys a straight line, slow, poor defense guy like Froch. Horrible matchup

Let's say Jones and Calzaghe get byes

3.Ward vs 6. Froch-Ward clear UD
4.Toney vs Kessler- Toney TKO in a very entertaining scrap


1. Jones vs 4. Toney- I do think Toney was drained, so let's say he comes in at his absolute best. He's still too slow of foot to catch Jones and has always been open to the left hook. Jones UD in a more competitive fight.

2. Calzaghe vs 3. Ward- Would probably be the most interesting fight of the tourney. I do not rate Calzaghe very highly, but his awkward high work rate style would give Ward fits. Judging would be key as neither guy has the power to stop the other. Ward finds himself in Hopkins' position where he can't spoil and slow down Calzaghe enough down the stretch. Calzaghe UD in a razor razor close one.

1. Jones vs 2. Calzaghe- Joe's work rate and footspeed would surprise Roy early, and he always was more vulnerable against southpaws because of the low lead. I think he wins the early rounds pretty easy, but Joe was never one to get discouraged in the ring. He just outworks Jones through the middle rounds, but he can't keep it up in the face of some huge left hooks he eats. Jones puts Calzaghe down late. Joe survives to take a competitive UD loss.

 

RJJ beats Ward in the final everyones agreed on that. Toney and Calzaghe battle it for third place I would say Calzaghe wins that I think Toney is overrated. Froch comes clear last here hes well out of his depth followed by Kessler.

Calzaghe-Ward is just too close to call, they have polar opposite styles, but they're both so good at what they do, it makes them so closely matched. They could fight 10 times, and we'd get 10 controversial decisions that could have gone either way each time :yep

 

That because lots of judges, like lots of fans, don't know how to score a fight. The term "workrate" has now become the most overused, cliched phrase in boxing.

As for this S6, Toney at his best would beat Calzaghe, possibly stop him, but you never know with Toney. Ward could outbox Calzaghe over 12 rounds, but who get the decision depend son where the fight is held. Froch and Kessler are also rans and who ever get to the final get beat by Jones.
